We did record at least one night I think, it was a while ago now. perhaps it was two. But the problem was we didn't use the band we had originally intended to use and the vibe we wanted for the project didn't seem to come together on the nights we were recording. I honestly don't remember too much about the nights and I haven't heard the roughs yet even. Maybe we'll come across it in a couple of years and realize it wasn't so bad maybe and put it out, but I doubt it.
The new justin Vasquez record I've been producing is finally done! just waiting for the artwork right now. Finished mixing and mastering in NYC a few weeks ago right before I took off on the road, and it sounds incredible.
That's the acoustic album that Justin is putting out with Clarence Penn on drums, Adam Rogers on Guitar, Aaron Parks on Piano, Gregoire Maret on Harmonica, Orlnado Le Fleming on bass, and a host of other guests and overdubbers...
We're also work on an electronic sounding album to go with it, and have so far tracked two days of stuff. one day with Jojo Mayer on drums, and one day with Deantoni Parks. I played bass on all the stuff, and am also producing that side of the album. We basically jammed for 8 hrs with each drummer so there is a huge amount of material that needs sifting through and editing into an album, but I think it's going to be a really fantastic project when it's finished.
