I love bass lines like yours in the tune Darkness. Lots of space that really make the notes and rhythm stand out. Hard for me to do that I keep wanting play a ghost note or something. Any suggestions on how to relax and put more air into bass lines.

Also really dig the Mystery to Me CD just picked it up off iTunes.

Steve,

well you don't have to stop playing ghost notes to give a groove space. maybe the balance between the full notes and ghost notes is something you want to be more concious of.

I'm always listening to everything that's going on around me first before I get too deep inside what I'm playing. Listen first, play second. That's something I'm always concious of. Well it's more in my subconcious now as I've been using it so much. It's a natural reaction.

I also find that checking out really grooving synth bass lines on old 70's records can be great for getting away from that 16th note/ghost feel. Much more space in those lines for me.

Easy,

Janek
