Musicians Health for gigging/touring...

First off Janek, thanks a bunch. You've had a tremendous impact on my career as a musician and as a person in general (I stole too many licks from you) and i just want to say thanks.

Here's my question, i know you take a jump rope out with you when you go on tour, but how else do you try to stay in shape and healthy? I'm religious with Multivitamins and carrying trail mix with me for the late nights. Gatorade and water are definately apart of what i do and i don't indulge on more than 2 drinks on a gig. I just wanted your take on the subject and the take on everyone else who's finding it a bit hard to keep their diet and health intact with a Musicians schedule.

Thanks again and i will call you up for a lesson as promised.

I find that I can work out most days when I'm home, and if I'm really busy that I can't I make sure I don't let it slide for more than a few days. I eat well, cook a lot for myself and anyone around me, and don't eat fast food ever.

On the road in the states it's very hard to stay healthy. The selection of food available in most parts of this country on main traveling routes is very limited. On a big tour the catering might be really good and you'll be able to stay in shape with that, but on smaller tours and one off dates you really just have to know where to look to eat good.

I don't do any drugs, and rarely drink. Especially when I'm at my place in LA as I drive everywhere. I used to play a lot of tennis which was great for staying in shape, but now with such a busy schedule I just about make it to the gym to work out.

Lots of water, japanese food, and exercise. that's the bottom line for me.

Easy,

Janek
