Hey Janek and all you other guys!!!

have you ever had a really bad recording session where you can't connect to the music and other musicians and just lose all your energy and freak out?!?!

maybe it is best to refuse them in the first place (if you know what it's going to be like...) or maybe this kind of experience helps you anyway?!?!

thanks!!!

ive been in a few where the music has been less than satisfactory to my ears and parts are out of time or something but you have to make the best out of it. i had a session a while back that a friend had put me onto, the guy was a pain in the ass to say the least.

The only really bad sessions I've had were always with this one Berklee teacher. He's an angry guy and lashes out if someone plays for a second to get the feel of the next tune, and if the piano player or drummer loses the form for a SECOND, he doesn't let them get back in, he stops everyone and yells. I put up with it though cause the other teacher who does these sessions is awesome!

I've be involved in a bunch of sessions and thing where there was bad energy and people didn't get along. It's happened more on the road than in the studio, but it does happen.

I learnt that making music is more about dealing with other people than anything else. And that someone else being a dumbass in the studio is something to really learn from and be the opposite of.

Being cool to be around will make sure you're always at the top of the list to call for a session.

Easy,

Janek
