Pedal adaptors

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Janek,
I have a number of bass pedals, namely Boss tuner, Boss Overdrive, Boss Octave, Boss loop-station, and Digitech Whammy 4. The power adaptors that I have are 500 MA and I have one for each pedal. The loopstation and the whammy pedal have their own specific power adaptor that came with the pedal. When I connect more than 2 or 3 of the pedals in any combination my volume is cut by more than half. I've tried with a no. of basses and amplifiers. Does it mean I need a more powerful adaptor? The ones I have are not Boss and are quite cheap. Do I need 1000ma adaptors?
Thanks...

it's probably more to do with the fact that they a) don't all have true bypass, and b) are al made by different companies. The difference in output level can be huge between various pedals. You'll need to adjust the levels on each one by hand until you have them all balanced. Or run them in effects loops that have a master volume control for each pedal/channel.

A 500ma adaptor is plenty of power for several pedals, depends on how many ma the pedals use when engaged. Some are as low as 4 ma, the TU-2 draws 55ma. you can find online how many the boss pedals use, or in the owners manual of most pedals.

Thanks guys, that really helped. I got the radial big shot true bypass effects loop and after trying a few different combinations I seem to have gotten an even full volume from all the pedals and while bypassed too.
Thanks again =)
