Podcast/Practice amp

Hi Janek,

I'm really enjoying your podcasts. Great to hear so much cool info from someone doing what you're doing in New York.

It's a random question but what do you use when you're shedding in your flat at home? I live in a flat so I can't crank and practice with my gigging amp so usually end up going thru my desk and laptop which results in a pretty un gig-like sound and as a result a different sound when playing live which can be frustrating.

I've heard you stress the importance of practicing to get a good sound. What did you use on the podcast or usually when you're at home and jamming? Or do you have really thick walls and crank a bass amp!

cheers,

J

J,

I use my main rig at home when I'm practicing. It's a 1200 watt power amp and the TBP-1 from Fender, with a 4x10 cab. I just don't crank it at home at all.

Although it's not loud there is defintley some nice low end response from it that gives it some feeling and some balls. I used to practice on computer speakers and it really sucked for my chops as far as touch goes. I like to try and move as much air as I can with the speaker and get that feeling of the bass.

It's a tough one because the bass frequency will really travel a long way, even at low volumes. I do live in an aparment on the 11th floor with neighbors all around, but it's been cool.

Easy,

Janek
