Question About Hanon Exercise

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Janek :-)

Weeks ago I start practice Hanon Lesson no.1 @60bpm in all 12 keys at my bass everyday.
Now I'd like to ask you, which one is better to do for me:

Keep on practicing Lesson no.1 with increase the tempo gradually (say to 70 bpm and gradually until 108 bpm or so..)

OR

Start practice Lesson no.2 ?

Thank you very much in advance and God Bless You.

I think the best thing you can do is to find out what's working best for you, and go after the exercises that push your limits. If you're starting to find one easy then move to the next one that challenges you more. I used to work on about 5 or 6 of them at any given time, and move them slowly from 60bpm up to 350bpm or more. It's a very personal thing at the end of the day, and different exercises work better for different people. If you're finding something very easy to play then it's likely that you need to push yourself a little harder in other areas. And if you're finding something difficult you probably need to stay working on that a little longer.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Janek :-)

Can you tell me your left fingering sequence in that particular Hanon Lesson no.2? especially in the descending move.
(I find it very hard for me to 'barred' my little finger in E & A strings when descending).

Tks again
