Hey All-
Just wanted to say I caught Janek at the 55 Bar in NYC last night with Mike Stern. I could post a long review and use all kinds of words like "smokin", "killin", etc., but I think this sums it up best:
I've seen Stern at the 55 for about 10 years now, and have seen him play with such heavyweights as Lincoln Goines, Jeff Andrews, Harvie Swartz, and others, all of whom were killin. But last night was the first time I've seen Stern turn to the crowd after a bass solo and yell "He's BAD!!!"
Enough said. If you're in the NYC area, go see Janek play. It's the real deal.

thanks guys. the shows this week were a lot of fun. I saw a guy sitting at the bar taping the show with a video camera.... no idea who he was. Stern is normally pretty strict about not taping it, but he didn't say anything to the guy. Maybe it'll appear on bit torrent or something.

man i so hope you make it to the UK with Stern, when i saw him he was with Chris Minh Doky who is a badass but i'd love to see you play with him,

it would be like two of my favourite musicians on one stage!

man you uys who caught those shows are damn lucky!

well we're planning a tour of the UK in the not too distant future. It'll either be in Nov or in the spring of 2007.

It will my first time in NY. Going to some heard great music, You and Tori Amos and hopefully alot more. And then I'm going visit the Fodera Shop and say hi to Vinnie. Hope I don't get the gas for another Fodera

Janek,
Mike Stern is coming to Humber for a concert in...March I believe ( There's a high chance I'm wrong)

But, I was wondering if you're coming as his bassist?

I'm not sure about the schedule for march right now. I know we're going to mexico in the end of feb, but I don't know about humber yet. He normally uses Alain Caron for all the Canadian dates so who knows?

I still never heard anything from the school about coming up there to do anything.... do think they're still interested in doing something?

I'm coming up to Montreal in the middle of Nov for the montreal drum festival with Marko Djordjevic. Should be a fun hang.

Are you only staying in Montreal for one day? Any chances of you doing a clinic while you're there?

I should be flying into montreal fri and leaving on monday. I know I only have to perform on the sunday with Marko.

If someone could hook up a clinic I would be more than into doing it.

Man, that would be beyond awesome! I'm gonna talk to my bass teacher on wednesday, maybe he could arrange something with with the department of music.
If the clinic doesn't work out, would you be willing to take on students individually?

cool, I would be into that if it works out with the music department there.

And if not I'm willing to take some private students. It would be good if there were a few to do it in one place. Maybe at your music school if there's enough interest.
