Stand-offishness of Music Students

Throughout my nearly 4 years at Berklee, I've noticed that often, when passing by someone you know on the street and have played with quite a few times, they don't even really acknowledge you. Did you ever see this when you were here? Is it just introversion or something else?

To be honest I didn't see much when I was there.....

I was either home shedding, or in the rehearsal rooms playing sessions from 6pm til midnight every night I possibly could.....

I get some of it here too. I might be shedding in one way or the other but I still notice things like that. Having seen a lot of this type of cases in connection with my work I think it comes down to a mix of vanity (wanting to seem mysteriously cool) and being socially handicapped. Damn embarassing, whatever it is...
