Urgent Help Needed to Buy a Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
This is Adnan from Bangladesh. This is my first post to this thread, I don’t know more about this threads rule.

I am a beginner bassist. I want to buy a bass guitar 4m UK. My price range is £270. I selected two bass from internet. These are Ibanez SR305 & Rockbass Corvette Though Rockbass Corvette’s price is more than my budget & Ibanez SR305’s price is less than my Price range.

By the way I like to play Rock, Metal, Thrash Metal, Speed Metal etc. & I like to cover Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeath, Children Of Bodom’s song.

Now I want the suggestion from an experienced Bassist like you that what should I do? Buying The Rockbass Corvette by saving money Or Ibanez SR305. Which one is perfect for me? Though buying the Ibanez SR305 I can also buy Hard Case, Padel or other Accessories by the rest of the money. Which Guitar’s Pickup is better? Can I try the ESP (like ESP F-104)? As metal bassist play the ESP bass. If I like to buy the ESP, which model do you suggest me about in my budget?

I have opened two threads in this site but no one can give me the appropriate answer! Some body said that Rockbass Corvette is better; some said The Ibanez again some suggested me to try the ESP. So I want final suggestion from an experienced Bassist like you that what should I do?

It is a too personal question... The best thing to do would be try all of them em buy the one you like most...

There is no such thing like "oh.. this is best for metal... this is best for jazz" and so on... there have been always lots of talk about the things you put in you post... no one ever gets to a unique conclusion... You can notice this by the other threads you yourself opened...

Warwick and Ibanez are both great companies...

Do you know where are both models made from? the ones you are looking for? Where Are They from? The country they are made can help answer your question

I know the best basses of Ibanez are made from Japan and Korea (well... I do not know if it is still in this way)

so... You must discover where are the best ones of Warwick...

If you are a begginer.. I do not see a real reason for such trouble... play them (if you can) ... If you like it... buy... and do not need to be theese ones... choose one... believe... none of theese you probably be yours last basses... hehehehhe

if you are new to talkbass, i'll give a heads up... the "which bass should i buy" questions are meant for the Basses forum. Another helpful thing is using the search function to read about people's prior experience with the basses in question.
janek gwizdala has a sticky that reads "PLEASE DO NOT POST GEAR QUESTIONS HERE," meaning in the thread that he graciously hosts. click on it and you will see his explanation, which is quite valid. you would be better off posting this in the Basses threads... there are plenty of people there that can help you, and you will probably get more relevant hits.

Add to that the fact you're asking about basses for metal in a forum populated mostly by jazz and pop players . . . not the best recipe for success!

k, please don't post gear questions in this forum. I cannot answer your questions as I know very little about gear.

Please don't post in here with massive bold letters either, there's no need to shout. If I could find a way to increase the size of the thread entitled "don't post gear questions in this forum" I would, but I don't think it's possible.

I'm also quite capable of policing this forum without everyone jumping in before me as well.

In a forum with close to 100,000 members that are devoted almost entirely to gear, aesthetics, "who plays faster", and "did you check out the new dream theatre album", I'm really not sure why or how gear questions get filtered into this section of the forum.

Easy,

Janek

Best thread ever! A beginner metal guy with annoying use of bold and caps asks an experienced jazz guy what the best beginner bass is for metal...it became the train wreck I knew it would! WTG everyone!

well here it is.

If you don't have the will or the energy to start another thread in the appropriate place on the forum then maybe you should question whether or not you want to be a musician. Because playing the bass, or any instrument for that matter, will take slightly more focus than just starting threads online.

what does it matter what bass you have anyway?!?! as a beginner can you really tell the difference between the two basses you mentioned? I don't even know what those basses are, so once again you're asking the wrong person.

Here's my suggestion:

go out and buy the cheapest crappiest used mexican made fender bass you can find. Play it for a year emulating your favorite players on records, and if you still want to be a bass player, have some money, and want to upgrade your bass at that time, find out something about different woods and what sounds they make when crafted into a bass and have a luthier make you an instrument.

But "please" don't ask me gear questions in this forum that don't have anything to do with music, my music, or my specific gear. Because I know nothing about it, and don't want to know anything about it. All it does is get in the way of the music.

Easy,

Janek

I think Janek has handled this as graciously as one could. Given this persons insistence and annoying use of caps etc...I doubt it's even a serious post....duh!!

The serial number of a Japanese guitar starts with "F" which stands for the Fujigen factory. The remaining digits are Production year and production number.

Such as serial F0734256 means It was made in Fujigen factory, Japan on 2007 and this is the 34256th guitar built on that year.

Same way, Indonesian guitars have serial starting with "I" (Cort Indonesia factory), "K" (KWO factory) and "J" (Sejung factory).

Serial of a Chinese guitar starts with "W" (World factory) and "Z" (Yeou Chern factory).

Buy the Warwick

Buy the Warwick Rockbass Corvette 5 string.
Just my opinion. I've had more success with Warwicks, less with Ibanez.

Now you may close the thread!
