Great! Heading over to sign-up now.

With it being password based, will we have to go to the actual site to view them or can we subscribe to an RSS feed or download through iTunes?

Thanks!

I'm super new to this so I'm not sure how the subscription works through iTunes... I'm looking into it all and will have info for you asap. I think it'll take a day or so to upload to iTunes so as soon as it does I'll check out what the viewing situation with that is.

Thanks for the support.

I just watched the first lesson and I'm really digging the format. The multiple camera angles are very convenient as is the sheet music for each example.

I'm glad the video and audio is high quality and not miniature size like a lot of podcasts are.

Thanks a bunch for doing these, Janek. I know they'll only get better as you do them more and become more experienced with the process.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot!

thanks for checking them out! I just finished shooting and editing two more episodes, so as soon as they finish rendering they'll be up on the site and available immediately this evening. I'm not sure if the host company sends out an email to update the subscribers or not yet as this will be the first update I'm doing. But if not, I'll always make sure I send an email to every subscriber to keep them up to date with the releases.

Great! That's a good work around for the notification issue.

Really digging this! The bass world hasn't had much in the way of things like this and I'm glad someone is stepping up and doing it.

Big +1. I checked out the first episode and I definitely like where this is going. I'm all subscribed and ready to go, so thanks in advance for all the upcoming episodes This will really help me with my theory.

Right now it's a subscription service only so you have the options of a one month period of use for all the videos or an ongoing bi weekly subscription. This is the first month of the service and I'm looking at all options that people might be interested in. I hope that after this one month period of beta testing I can offer several more options than are available now. I'm not quite sure how it will work in a podcast format $0.99 a week recurring, or slightly higher one time payments for 1, 2, or three month memberships, that this will still be way below the cost of anything else out there, and keep it attractive enough to people to want to stick with it.

Let me know your thoughts.

Wow! This was nice!
I really enjoyed watching and learning from these videos!
escpecially the second one about melody and developing it!
And the price. total bargain. I could even pay more for these.
Keep it coming, cant wait to see more!

Janek,

Just an idea. It would be cool if the example notation could also be downloaded as a PDF file. That way, the files can be loaded on a device like the iPad and be taken with the player.

Thanks!

Yea I thought this one was particularly cool as well. Without mentioning details of the lesson, it turns out I've been doing what Janek suggested in the video all along naturally, but now I actually know what/why I'm doing what I'm doing lol.

Thanks again for putting these up man!

Go watch these...seriously

Not to sound like a total fanboy, but if you are into any kind of improv music, (it doesnt have to be jazz), go watch these.

These are hands down the best $5.00 you will spend this year to improve your bass playing and thinking about music and creativity.

Just watching Janek play over changes is worth it alone, but then to hear how he breaks down his thinking and organization and approach to finding new stuff, what he practices, how he deals with technical issues, etc. is worth a hell of a lot more than just the cost of two venti lattes.

There are a lot of jive videos out there of people giving "lessons" that only show a specific fingering or some lick-of-the-moment, but these lessons from Janek are the real deal about musicianship and bass playing. Highly recommended.

+1, awesome vids.

I love how this is really aimed at practicing/developing on the long term. Better than here's a lick, here's another one, etc.

I'd really love to see Janek talk about grooving and writing basslines too. Almost all of the videos have been about soloing so far which is nice but I would love to see your approach on improvising basslines on the spot.

Thanks!

yep, I have bassline construction and development on the list of videos to shoot. There will be a much more varied amount of material as time wears on.....

I'm working on a dedicated site just for the lessons that can incorporate interactive lessons, student video uploads, a dedicated forum, and multiple levels of membership and subscriptions.
