Wal and Fodera

Hey Janek-
How's it going? I was curious about your opinions on Wal and Fodera. What were your reasons for changing to a Fodera after playing Wal basses? What do you feel the differences between the two basses are and what would say the Fodera gives you that Wal doesn't, etc.
Thanks man.

well one of the main differences is the wood and the design. they are two completely different basses.

the feel of the Fodera was what drew me to it. it's a through neck, instead of the wal's bolt on, and just delivers a different sound. A sound which i feel I can work with more than with the wal for doing what I want to do and for developing my own voice.

The wal was fantastic in the studio and I do wish I still had it. But the fodera is totally killing for doing record dates, and i actually use a P-bass on most record dates these days as that's what most tracks require.

Easy,

Janek

That's cool; do you feel you can get more of a "scooped" sound out of the Fodera as oposed to the lower mid tone of the Wal?
Also, are you using Fender amps these days?

I haven't really thought about the scooped sound compared to the wal. I'm just trying not to be concious of any of that stuff and let what happens happen.

And yes, I'm using fender amps these days.

the tbp-1 pre amp and the new power amp from fender. as well as fender cabs. 4x10 and a 1x15 and I also have their 2x10 combo.

Easy,

Janek
