I spent most of 2010 playing a P-Bass with VV Brown on tour all over the world.
But those kinds of videos don't normally get any attention because they aren't displays of huge amounts of chops..... and bass players tend to gravitate towards things that are flashy. It's a bit of a slippery slope when you start to get known as doing a specific thing such as soloing or having a bunch of chops. But the reality of the industry is that I (or most other players on the planet) make the bulk of my career playing the simplest and melodic bass lines and ideas. And that's also had a great influence on my own music, which has been a really interesting from both a playing and writing standpoint. There are still soloistic aspects of shows with my own group, but the collective band sound has started to become a lot more focussed and is not unlike a pop gig in that sense.
