The V was $1499 and the deluxe was actually less since it was a discontinued color scheme Montego Black ($1100). I also bought a Road Worn P bass (made in Mexico?)($1000) that is also a great bass. I say shop around , save a little more , do your homework and then buy. |

I played a "road worn" Mexican jazz bass a few weeks ago that was amazing, and i'm seriously considering buying it.
It's all about the individual instrument and nothing to do with what the instrument is called or where it was made.

I have a Mexican P from 2000 that plays better than even the best MIA 2008-2011 basses I've played. Perfect neck, UNBELIEVABLE pickup, light weight.
That said, the quality control on the new MIA Fenders seems much more reliable than the stuff further down the product line. If you're somewhat new to the instrument, and you're not confident that you can pick up on the really fine details of what makes a quality Fender bass, then go for the MIA if you want to play it safe. |

| | | | I'm sorry if I offend anyone by this, but here's my take. You ALWAYS get what you pay for, people say squier's sound just as good or as better as an american p. I cannot bring myself to believe that, based on sound, or playability. I will also say you get judged on what you play, whether a mexican, squier or whatever. I walked into a rehearsal, pulled out my American P, and the solo artist i was trying out for said, yeah I know you're serious. It all depends on what you play, and who it's for.
Just my opinion, feel free to disagree, just take that into consideration. |

I disagree
But seriously, I'm of the opinion that my Squier plays better than any Fender I ever tried. And sounds pretty damn good too.
It's such a shame that people judge based on a headstock logo as to whether you're a serious musician or not.
