Are you able/allowed to tell us which songs you are producing/have produced?

I would love to check out the work you have done. Whether it's laying down bass for some artist, producing a whole record, put together some electronica for a movie, etc... It would be cool to see your past Credits!

The reason I bring this up is I am trying to do the same thing. Perform and record my own jazz while keeping rent paid by (and enjoying) making beats, arranging, producing, playing sessions.

well there are a number of things that are out there right now, as well as tons of stuff that is yet to be released.

Some things would include:
Smooth Jazz:

Ronny Jordan - At Last. I wrote, produced, arranged horns, and played on two tracks for that album. In the limelight, and Island Paradise.

Mike Phillips - Uncommon Denominator. I wrote, produced, arranged horns and played on two tracks. Don't Panic, and a track that didn't come out on the US release, but is due to come out on the international release and is yet to be named.

Jazz:

Mysterious Voyages - a tribute to weather report. I wrote, engineered, mixed, produced, and played bass and keys on one track "Scarlet Women". That track allso features Scott Kinsey and Torsten De Winkel.

Bob Reynolds - Can't Wait for Perfect. New York Tenor player currently on tour with John Mayer. I produced the entire album as well as doing some arranging. It was released on the Fresh Sound label in 2006. Feat: Aaron Goldberg, Ruben Rogers, Eric Harland, and Mike Moreno.

Patrick Cornelius - Lucid Dream. New York Alto Player. I produced the entire album as wel as arranging the peter gabriel song "don't give up" for the record.

Marko Djordjevic and Sveti - Where I come from. I produced the entire album, arranged vocals, horns, and played trumpet on one track also.

Marko Djordjevic instructional DVD - Where I come from, a fresh approach to drumming. I played bass on this DVD. (and we'll be in montreal next week at the montreal drumfest for the release of the DVD)

Gospel:

Briss - Focus. I co-wrote, produced and played on three cuts on this record.

Tyrone Brikett - In the fullness of time. I played bass on about half the album as far as I remember.

Electronica:
Adam Freeland - Now and Them. I played bass on two or three cuts, don't remember the names off the top of my head.

so those are a few of the projects that I've been involved with in the recent past, that are actually released and out there.

There must be around 50 or 60 songs I've played bass on, programmed drums for and/or produced that aren't out, and may never see the light of day.

I'm working on 5 different albums that are in production right now that need to be finished by the end of the year, and a few months ago I got to work on the new marcus miller release when I engineered a harmonica session in New York with Gregoire Maret. I stil haven't got a copy of the album yet, so I have no idea what it came out like. If anyone has it, do let me know. And I also worked on a radio show for the BBC about the life of Pat Metheny and we recorded some duets for that show, just me and Pat. so that was a huge experience for me having been such a huge fan of Pat for so long.

Easy,

Janek

Janek,

I am very interested in hearing these duets between you and Pat Metheny, do you know of someplace I could hear/get a hold of these recordings?

Also, just out of curiosity, what did Pat say about you and your playing/music. Do you think there is any chance the two of you would work together on something in the future?

Thank you very much for your time,

Josh

that bit on Metric Modulations that you did with Marko Djordjevic is killer!

You played Trumpet on one of his tracks? What other instruments do you play?

the duets were recorded for a radio show on the BBC about the life of pat metheny. It already aired in the UK on the BBC, but they told me it should be available for streaming on the BBC website for at least a year after the airing date.

I might also feature a couple of the songs in one of my podcasts when I get a spare second to put a new one up.

Easy,

Janek
