Hey Janek,

Just out of interest,

where do you set your pickup dial for when you're playing normally? e.g. - More to the bridge pickup? Also, do you roll off some of the treble on the bass or do you do that on the amp?

My new imperial and my overwater 6 string both sound a bit too much highs for my taste when the tone is set flat and i'm experimenting with the Fodera in different pickup blend amounts for different tones etc... Not to mention where i play with my RH.

cheers ,

J

J,

I normally have the EQ set flat on everything. Depending on the situation I'm playing I might roll a little of something on or off, but I like the sound of the wood and of my fingers. And again, it depends what I'm playing for where I set my pick up control. Normally more of the back pick up for my own stuff, but it really just depends on the setting.

Lots of experimenting went into getting it to where it is right now.

Easy,

Janek

tone/sound

That's really interesting. Cheers man.

Would you say then that it's best to practice with all your e.q.s flat for working on your sound then?

I have a habit of always rolling off a lot of highs (tho i do practice through a line 6 pod with no amp model or anything) - does that mean I need to work more on my technique and if so have you any tips for pure just working on a nice tone?

I find that in some venues I get a brilliant sound (usually ones with a bit of reverb) but in others starting with flat e.q. i have a nasty in your face trebly sound.

For an example of comparison you and matt garrisson have totally different tones. To my ears yours is more dark and woody whereas matt's is more bright and metallic. Is that just different technique or do you roll off treble more on your amp etc...?

thanks for taking the time to answer such mundaine questions! I'm sure everyone here is blown away by how cool it is to have your insight and info.

cheers,

J
