Your studio gear...

Hi Janek,

Further to your earlier thread on home studio/production gear I was wondering what studio monitors you use in your own home setup?

Do you have any tips/advice for models suitable for producing and recording as bass player in a fairly small bedroom studio? Have you ever tried Genelecs (which I have been recommended)?

I was also wondering what monitor headphones do you use?

cheers,

J

studio monitors, after price, come down to taste.

there are certain things about the genelecs that I love, and certain things that really annoy me. I have a pair of Alesis powered monitors because they were cheap, and do what I want them to do.

If I had my choice I would have a pair of Yamaha NS-10's, and some high end JBL's or something like that.

I have a nice pair of Sony headphones which I am very used to, and I'm thinking of buying the AKG's that are becoming more and more popular in every studio in the city now.

Really, it's all about the room you're mixing in, and how it's tuned to your system and vice versa. It's a fine art to get the balance right, and most bedroom situation don't come close. I know mine doesn't. So it's just a close approximation, and then I'll go to a serious studio to mix and master anything I'm working on.

easy,

Janek
