Next Friday, Dec 28th, hdracer and I are meeting to set the date for the next GTG. Lets spread the word and make this an even more awesome GTG! I'm excited to see all of you. Let's put some pressure on Timmy to bring one of his 7 string Conklins! I know I'd like to embarrass myself

A CALL - would Charles Fletcher, Timmy and BassMule be willing to do a mini-seminar? (Or any other 'schooled' player)

I know we've thought of this in the past, and haven't done it, but this time lets set up a schedule... PLEASE? PM me to discuss. I'm thinking I could recruit Klay (Orrbass) to play keys (his 1st instrument), and another friend to play drums if needed for demonstrating. Let's talk about it and insert 30 min into the gathering?

bassmule:
I tried to PM you... unsuccessfully. please contact me.

I would add Andy McClure to that august list. If it would help, I'd forgo bringing bass gear and bring a small drum kit instead. Drums are my primary instrument.

That would be cool. Can you touch bass (sic) with Andy?

Does anyone know how to contact bassmule? He doesn't come up when I do a member search... Awesome guy... I hope he can come.

Andy is semi retired - would have been cool to have him demo electric upright

I'c suggest one person doing true basics--- like Charles Fletcher on how to construct an interesting blues line

Not the worst idea to bring a set to jam on...but feel free to bring certain bp102 loaded cabs with you too (i believe that was you right? I suck at the whole real life name to username connection)

Yes I'll bring the BP102 based cab. It's been improved - it had WAY too much stuffing in it. I'm going to bring it home and run some low frequencies through it to help it develop it's lower voice.

Since Timmy has gigged with Andy more than my once, I'm hoping he'll ask Andy. Andy is an exceptional bassist.

I would also ask Kenner to do a demo. His attention to tonal details (I secretly want to start a Who tribute band with him) and work ethic ("I have 16,000 songs on my iPod and the rest of my life to learn them all") are inspirational.

Added: I am momentarily spacing his name, but a St. Louis Park native recently moved back into town and I was very impressed with his skills at the last GTG as well. I think I need lessons. For sheer proximity, I want to talk to Andy. We have a lot of talented people in this group.

Great! I don't know how i got so obsessed about BP102s...I still want a bp102 loaded cab one day!

I agree about Kenner--I don't know what he'd talk about, but it's sure fun to watch him play!

I'm very excited for the next GTG! Can hardly wait. I'm also very flattered that you put me in the same category as Timmy, Charles Fletcher, and Kenner, however I strongly feel I'm not at their level. I think Charles would be more suited to doing a clinic than myself. In fact, Dave, because of your extensive history, you're probably more qualified to give tips on building blues lines than myself.

I'd be more than happy to talk about my approach to jamming with other musicians, and my approach to building bass lines in general, but as far as a structured clinic, any of the other mentioned bassists would be a better choice over myself.

I'm also planning on bringing a few of my musician friends. (I know I say that everytime, and they never end up coming, but I'm still working on them.)

Are we assuming the GTG is at the same location? If it's not available, I have a place that would be more than happy to host as well.

Yes it would, Doug. It was a pleasure to meet you at the last GTG and I was quite impressed with your playing ability.

I got a Christmas card from him and his family. Good man. I like him. I have been thinking of quitting for the last few years. I haven't because all of my friends are musicians and then where would I be? Also, all of my ego is tied to "Kraig the musician." He's a brave man to have given it up after all the effort he put into becoming the monster player he is.
