Question [Minneapolis/MN Thread] Where's the "beer" thread icon?

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings to all Minneapolitains/Minnesotans!

Welcome to a meet-up thread. I propose we do the following:
  • Have "I have a new amp/bass/excuse to drink" meets
  • Invade open-stage nights at bars/clubs
  • Colaborate on band projects for those of us that can play more than one instrument
  • Post stuff here instead of craigslist so you know it's going to a good home
  • Whatever else you guys can think of!
Ok, go! For starters, post your city/area, bands, and other things you think pertinent. Or just say "hi." Also go lasso all your bassist buddies and get 'em in here.

- Minneapolis
- the Darkos, one unnamed project
- I play bari sax as well, and just received new pre-amp tubes in the mail this morning

Jeff here. 4 bands (3 in my sig, one of which is on hiatus--and an unnamed 4th project). I hang out at Area 52 a lot on Fridays, which hosts a fun jam.

Howdy.

Took a VERY long break after playing 364/365 days x 5 years... dusting off the 4,5,6 and fretless

PLAYING - Sessioning for a REALLY tight Church band.. a REALLY bad Folk Trio (seriously laughable - good chance to try some different stuff)..

Looking to start/join a 2-4 nite per month cover act.

LIVE - near St. Paul Midway.

GEAR - Couldn't find any good 1x15 and 2x10 cabinets worth the bucks, so building them for my rack biamp... Midwest Speaker is doing the Cad and Physics... They'll cost about the same as store cabinets.. the EV drivers will be 100x what mfgs put in the boxes.

Beer?

Tim

PROBABLY ACTUALLY MORE PERTINENT: I'm trying to unload a 5 string...anyone looking for a backup bass (or just an inexpensive but solid 5)?

Just a reminder - gigspam doesn't go here, it goes in Misc.

Carry on!

Also, wouldn't it kinda make sense to be able to post gigs for the locals to see, as opposed to making them fish through the other non-local shows? Not that I'm questioning anyone. I'm just thinking outloud (and online).

Band: The 330s
Other things: I play nearly anything. Not amazingly, but I can hold down the basics on many instruments. I'm best at drums, particularly jazz drums, but rock bass is a second.

I'm noticing that local places are booking higher quality stuff and having a bit bigger exepctations.

Christies V will book anything.. just ask about the haneous waste of $5 I dropped on them a few weeks ago.

By all means, talk about your bands! And I don't see how a mention of your upcoming shows in this thread hurts, so long as it's incidental.

Actual gigspam posts go in Misc - this is per the site admins.

It is freezing cold up there in Mn. (so this is global warming-it was 82 today in LA).
How do you guys protect your fingerboard's from drying out?

Great idea scuz. When we're working we don't get to meet many other players. Yes, I've noticed the clubs booking less and or dropping live music all together. Tough times for the club scene right now. I'm fortunate enough to be working in a trio so we can keep our cost in line.

Richard- it is hella cold here right now. Not fit for humans. A little lemon oil on the fingerboard does the trick.

I'm Jeff,

I live in Minneapolis.

I play in Thief River (which shares a practice space with Oraflora's band Empire Garrison - Hi!) INCIDENTALLY - we have a gig coming up next Saturday (1/24/09) at Lee's with the other band in our space Action Vs. Action, should be lots of fun

I also play guitar. I play guitar in The Uncool (BassMule's band which is on hiatus)
