I guess we should start a pic thread for the GTG instead of adding it to the end of the original long thread. Here are some while the rest of them load.

No, I did not fall over backwards immediately after that photo.

I put pics into the original thread. Should a mod move the posts?

You sure the sheer awesomenees of the bass didn't knock you down? LOL

Add the pics here. The other thread is sooo long that I feel they'll get lost in the end of the thread.

Thanks. Nice to meet you, too. I don't think anyone picked up my Lakland, too bad though, I think it sounds and plays on a par with a few of the expensive instruments in the room. Either that or it just suits my tastes well.

The camera's a Canon SD790 IS, which I'm very happy with. But the secret of this kind of photo: if your camera has a good auto white balance correction, and if there's reasonable light in the room, shut off the flash.

Hi, everyone.

This is the thread I was looking for.

I took a ton of pictures; I'll start posting them here as soon as I can.

I'll post about 7 or so until they're all posted.

It takes more time, but it gives y'all something to look forward to.

First post coming soon.

Mike

OK, gang, here are my first shots.

The place where it all happened.

Chronicle's complete pedal store, umm, board!

Mike Dimin. Thanks for the clinic, Mike! It was good to see you again.

Tbirdbassist, with his Peavey T-40.

Boyondhairy with his Ric.

The Ric brothers, Jetglo and Fireglo! (Beyondhairy & Chronicle)

Philbiker with the Valenti give-away bass. Note matching hat.

More later.

Mike

The next set of photos:

Nicholas D'Amato with a fretless Keith 5.

Cosmicevan. Nice to have seen you and talked with you again, Evan.

Matt Lewis on a BL Design.

Our host, The Crusader, with the Keith Fretless 5. Unidentified beer attacking from right!

Beau Leopard of BL Designs with Adam Mazza's MTD.

Nino Valenti and Beyondhairy with the give-away bass.

The winner of the Valenti bass, jgsbass. Much good luck with it, Jerry. A nicer guy couldn't have won it.

More photos later tonight.

Mike

This year, I brought Mr. Tripod and Mr. Macro Lens with me.

To start, here are closeup headstock shots of each of the four builders that were there. In no particular order:

Valenti:

Keithbasses:

BL Designs:

Sheridan:

I loved the look of the Sheridan at the top of this frame, and decided to give it the close-focus treatment.

Closeup of the body:

Closeup of the bridge:

Closer still:

For those interested, I used a 100mm Pentax Macro lens set at f8.0 for most of the shots. The camera was on a heavy tripod, and I used a shutter speed of .5 second with flash mixed in for all but the two closest shots of the bridge. I should have bracketed more, but I didn't want to disrupt the bass table for too long in case anyone wanted to play a particular bass.

More people shots coming up.

Mike

A few of my shots - apologies for the large size, I did not resize them, just loaded them to photobucket as is.

First, Laurent, JP, and Adron who stayed at my place on Friday night on the way up. A very good time was had by all! A few too many beers were drunk by me. That third pitcher at Ledo's was the tipping point I think.....

Here's some of the GTG. Sorry I didn't have a notebook to write down names!!!! You know who you are I hope.

The pedal corner was truly fantastic!

There was a lot of noise coming from this little area here. Wonder why?

Everyone who played that Dingwall loved it. The tone was FANTASTIC!!!!

Some very good food as like last year!

The Yamaha plugged into two amps was really impressive. Talk about huge sound!!!!!

We tried to get the Ric-o-sound going, but didn't have the right cable.

The Jay Turser JTB-401 was a big hit!

I didn't get any pictures in the bar of the late crowd. It was much of the same late crowd as last year, with Cosmicevan noticably absent . I know someone had a camera there, we need the incriminating evidence!!!!

Count me in for next year. Let's see if I can get an even lower number.

Many thanks to our host and organizer The Crusader for his hard work and dedication. As long as you have this I intend to make it a yearly function. This is what talkbass is all about as far as I'm concerned, getting the bass player community all together! Now, we need to start scheduling the fall DC get-together since I missed the last one.

More people pictures.

Pilot Jones on a Kubicki.

Greg C. on The Crusader's new Sadowsky.

Nino on a nice BL Design.

Adam Mazza on his drum machine. This thing was so cool!

Adam and Bruno (Coelho) on the drum machine.

Bob Lee & Blueskid.

Bassybill & his lovely sister, Giselle.

Bob Lee & Giselle.

And finally, this is something that caught my eye. A memorial to a firefighter who died on 9/11. He was obviously well-known and well-liked at this place, and I'm glad I noticed it as I was walking around the grounds. I'm no one's translator of German, but I believe it says, "In love, until we see each other again."

More pictures tomorrow.

Mike
