Thumbs up CHARLOTTE, NC GTG ***Final Update for 3/7***

Sign in to disble this ad
OK fellow TBers. The date is almost here, so here's all of the info you should need.

WHEN: Saturday, March 7th @ 2PM.
WHERE: 1300 Idlewood Circle, Gastonia, NC 28054

BASS GUITAR: Feel free to bring your own, however, I have several of mine that will be available and Gard is bringing a few.

RIGS: I have several that will be set up - from vintage to newer - so we'll be good to go on those.

PARKING: I'm on a cul-de-dac with space for probably 10 or so vehicles around it. Also, my driveway is fairly long and you'll see an area with white rock on the ground on the left hand side of the drive near the house. This area is used for parking too. Probably 3-5 vehicles can park there if parked at an angle, and the driveway still be clear. If more space is
needed, there are other good options, but we'll go into that if needed on Saturday.

I'll have snacks and sodas. If you need anything other, please provide for yourself.

Looking forward to seeing all who can make it. I'm sure we'll enjoy the event.

My home/office phone is 704-867-8056.

Thanks Oren for having the event. Really wanted to make it and bring some of my old vintage gear aside from myself, LOL. Fairly serious family illness calls me out of town this weekend. Hopefully next time, thanks again for hosting it.

I'm still in, how about we help Oren out and give him a headcount for Saturday!

Not meaning to event-jack or anything, but any chance folks attending this have any heads/cabs/combos they're looking to part with? I'm in the Lake Norman area, just got into bass (actually, my first bass is on its way to me from a TB classified), and I've been scouring TB/craigslist/eBay for the perfect rig deal but haven't seen it yet.

I had to ask since a gang of TBers will be together so close to me. Apologies if that's inappropriate.

MK - more specifically, what are you looking for in your rig?

Something simple, since I'm new to bass. At least 300 watts (my drummer is overpowered). I'm undecided on a combo or head/cab, but I'm leaning towards something along the lines of a MAG 300H or Backline 600 and a 210 or 112 to start.

One more day!

OK, here's a thought guys, how about everyone tossing out a "gear I'm bringing" list, might help keep overlap to a minimum, just in case...

Here's my list:

NS Design CR5M (well used and worn)
Roscoe Century Signature VI Fretted
Roscoe Century Signature VI Fretless
Eden WT550
Epifani UL310 Series 2

I was hoping we'd have a Century Standard or two I could "borrow" for the day, but unfortunately, no joy....we'll just have to settle for the fancy versions!

I'm afraid you will find a single 12" to be a bit short of your target for moving air in your situation, and recommend a 210 instead. You'd be very surprised at how much more air a 210 will move compared to a 112...

Sorry to hear about your wife jimbob. Hope she's well soon.

The GTG was terrible. Gard was the ONLY one to show! We made the best of a beautiful Saturday afternoon. For a couple of hours or so, we had good converstaions, thumped on his 2 Roscoes and electric stand-up through my vintage Sunn Coliseum with 2 Sunn 1-18 Cerwin Vega folded horn cabs and petted my 3 dogs.

Oren, thanks for making the effort, and thank you for your hospitality. Very cool stuff you've got, quite the collection of old vintage amps and an impressive array of basses.

As for the GTG overall, though, that was a very disappointing turnout.
