Jaquo, it's good to know you have high standards for your playing. Frankly, 99.5% of bassists would love to sound like you. Unless a dude is Michael Manring or something, I don't see a lot of room for critique. It's a blast to see an artist as great as you are be so humble.

Man this was a great GTG. There was so much awesome stuff goin on. The barker that Iota brought was a real treat. All the demo's were great. I had a great time messin around on eli's fretless seven, what a trip! For me, the best part of the GTG was listening to all you guys play my fretless. I always thought the most fulfilling part of building would be playing it myself, but watching you guys get some enjoyment out of it was 10 times better. I'm hopin to see a pics thread real soon!

Thanks again Cheese,I'm still learning,I chose to make that particular clinic very basic (with the subject matter being what is was,the importance of the relation between the drummer and the Bassist).

paintandsk8,your fretless played nice and it sounded killer,I think your choice of fb radius was perfect.

and Lonnybass, another well thought out and put together fretless with growl for days.

hey guys. I had a great time. Thanks for another great GTG. It was nice to see some new faces and basses. This one was def better then last years. And im hoping next years will be even better! Im interested to see what Dan has in store for us at the next GTG at the Lakland shop. Jauqo, once again thanks alot for the clinic. I tell ya what. Dan made quit an impression on me. Enough to make me really want to invest in a Lakin. Like if i had a choice of food for a month or get a Lakin. Id choose the Lakin. I need to lose the weight anyway. Oh and cant forget Lane form Eden. Great job showing what an Eden can do. You guys all have nice basses. I think i got a pic of everyones bass, or at least someone playing your bass. Is there anyone here willing to post the pics I took? Hopefully i can get them sent tomarrow. I cant find the usb cable I need to upload the pics to my computer. I tell ya theres always something.

Thumbs up Chicago GTG Pics!

I just wanted to echo what everyone else has said - The Chicago GTG was a BLAST!!! It was great to meet all of the TB'ers in person and we had a lot of fun. There are some really great folks on Talkbass.

I just want to send a shout-out to all the players I met, including: BassMorpheus, Billy Low, BillyB_from_LZ, Dr. Cheese, eli, eots, Lonnybass, mb1, paintandsk8, Robear22. (I know I met others but I can't remember the names. I apologize for that -- please charge it to my head and not to my heart!)

Special Kudos go to:
* Warwickthumb -- Thanks for pulling it all together!
* Jauqo III-X -- Great job on the clinic!
* Dan Lakin -- A super nice guy who was very generous with his time!
* Lane Baldwin -- This man will definitely sell you on Eden gear!
* Mark from Bassclub -- Thanks for letting us take over your shop for the day!

And last but not least, here are the pics. Feel free to quote this post and add your name to your face ...

I bought some strings, and I know of some other purchases, but it is not my place to say who got what.

I'm thrilled that Lonny thinks that my Hoyt 4 feels like Victa's Fodera!!!!

I didn't buy anything either...I did acquire a fondness for an Accugroove Tri 210. The full range balanced tone (when driven by my 4 string Hoyt and the Sadowsky tube head) was quite lovely!!!!

Your Omni 15 sounded pretty good too!!!

I enjoyed the Lakland Bob Glaub and Duck Dunn basses, but realized after trying out many different instruments, that I'm extremely happy with my present trio of basses...

I bought a Cherryburst 55-02.

Also, while I didn't buy it from Mark (on the strength of Lonnybass' recommendation and letting me check out his), I ordered an MTD Zephyr.

I should have pics of both up by the end of the week.

I had a great time. Met a lot of great guys-especially Lonnybass (I had the Pedulla Rapture) and Dr. Cheese. Lots of good info and tips from Jauqo. My gas list has gotten bigger. It was my first gtg but not my last.

Well, damn. The BBQ sucked because it was windy as crap, so I spent my late afternoon jamming at home, then hopped up to Cork and Kerry later on.

Although I got there late I enjoyed meeting some new and familiar faces. It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait until the next one.

What stood out to me:

-Meeting Iotanet after talking on the phone several times!!!!

-Lonnybass' Zephyr has me gasing for the 6 string as soon as it comes out.

-Paintandsk8 and Lonnybass' creations. We have some very talented guys in the Midwest.

-Eli's Conklins had me wanting to slap myself for selling mine years ago.

-Warwickthumb playing Amazing Grace. Nice chops.

-That Cort GB is very underrated!!!!

-Billylow's TBC. I was about to hit him on the head and run outside of the store.

-Jauqo for his phenomenal skill on the fretless.

-And Mark for being a gracious host!!!!

Thanks Warwickthumb for putting this together again. I may do something in the spring with a possible guest being Norm Stockton.

I thought it might hurt, but it just wouldn'a been right for you not to put your hands on one again...

See you next time at Lakland!
