Wow. That sounds awesome. Someday, I hope to make that event. Anyone here been there? Is it a hassle to tote your bass around all day?

I went three years ago and it was no big deal. It would be better in a gig bag than a hardshell, though.

I'm going this year as a volunteer recorder. I'll setup the gear for recording each bass session and in exchange I get in the Summit free and free access to the evening concerts. The worship pastor at my church is heavily involved in Summit planning and she was looking for volunteers.

The only bass presenter the year that I went was Norm Stockton, which was awesome enough. This year we get Norm, Dave Ellefson, and Abraham Laboriel?

Sounds good, just let me know where you'll be and I'll come look for you.

The Norm Stockton class and the Abe Laboriel master class for bass and for band was particularly good two years ago. Phil Keaggy smoked everyone in that auditorium at the concert. I loved seeing the look of amazement on the faces of the young, talented guitarists that had never heard of him.

Not to sidetrack your thread but I didn't know David Ellefson was a Christian.

I know! Weird, huh? I spoke with the main Summit organizer and he said Ellefson's a Believer. That might have been part of the reason why he's the former bassist for Megadeth.

I had heard that Dave Mustaine was but that was the first I heard about Ellefson. Cool

Mustaine? Really? I shouldn't doubt the power of the Holy Spirit in a person's life, though.

That would be cool, but he'd probably need to change his lyrics a bit (I would think).

Google Dave Mustaine Christian and you'll see all kinds of stuff. Again didn't mean to hijack your thread. I would love to come to this event though!

Maybe that would be a cool thread - "What secular musicians are Christians?" I've heard Alice Cooper is a believer.

Norm Stockton is a great, down to earth guy. I wish I could be there.

You didn't hijack - I figured there would be comments about Ellefson's Christianity! I was surprised myself.

I've heard that about Alice Cooper as well! Next people will be saying that King Diamond is a Christian now. All we need is Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Blackie Lawless, and Tom Araya and we'd have quite a choir!

Haha that is good! Actually I have read a few articles about Alice Cooper and his conversion. His newer material is kinda directed that way. I actually bought my Spector bass after seeing Abe Laboriel playing one years ago.

Are you going to the Norm Stockton seminar? I am probably going to the manufacturers display room first then to Norm Stockton;s class. Hope to catch you there.

Did everyone get a chance to go? I went on Friday but skipped Saturday. The Abe Laboriel seminar and the Abe Laboriel and Friends concert was worth the price of the entire event. I also really dug Norm Stockton's seminar and his playing with Lincoln Brewster. I did not dig the FOH sound for them though, but that could be due to the fact that I was in the first row and may not have gotten a good representation of the FOH sound.
