Typically the Dallas Guitar show is great for finding diamonds in the rough...I have found a deal on a cool old used pedals there almost every year...and it's a great place to stock up on strings...Last year the Dean Markley guys were selling 4-string bass sets for $10, and 5-string sets for like $13.

I usually take some gear down to try and sell...but I'm not gonna lug anything down there this year. I'm also just going to use the backline stuff they have on stage...I think last year I used a Mesa big block 750 and a farty Ampeg 8x10...

if any big D or little d bassists want a get together this weekend. my band's playing twice tonight in denton (boilerrrom) and tomorrow dallas (doublewide).

we play first both nights, and i am the "lucky" guy who gets to wait until close to get paid, i am sure the rest of the band will split. it's the price you pay for being the guy in the band who handles the money, but better me than them.

so, if anyone wants to kill 3 hours drinking and talking basses with me either night, be my guest. i'll be the geeky guy with the maiden bass.
