I'll be there on Saturday sometime around the lunch hour we have to hook up if not just for the pic opportunity... | Heh... believe me, I'm an unimpressive man with an obsessive problem. I'll be wearing a bassfuzz shirt! |

I wanted to see Randy play, so I was surprised (ok, a bit irritated) that he seemed to be spending most of his time with his back to the audiance. Continued careful observation let me really see how the bassist works with the drummer, and can lead him through the rhythm of an unfamiliar song. Once he was sure Jamie knew what was coming, or that he knew the song (during "When a Man Loves a Woman) then Randy would turn to the audiance. I only wish he had been louder, especially during his solo.
Thanks Randy!

Thanks in advance.

spent some time at the Low end Booth.....and the Warrior booth...even got to rub Elbows with Rick Derringer
Got an excellent buy on a five pack of D'addarios's and snagged a comfort strap
but i didn't buy and basses today (even though i was tempted by a few 80's gems)....as i just scored a Rickenbacker 4003 the night before for a price that would make you cry....
oh well maybe next time
hope you guys had fun

Thanks Randy! | Randy Cates is a friend of mine, and really solid Bass player. we do shows with The Stratoblasters a lot (Jimmy Wallace of the blasters is a great friend as well)...Last night they had jamie Oldaker sitting in on Drums, and he wasn't really very familiar with the material...Randy spent a lot of time trying to keep Jamie together.
After the show last night, I got to go backstage and meet Eric Johnson, and his Bass Player Chris Marsh (Genz Benz guy)...what a very nice guy...and today after our set, I met Skunk Baxter backstage...he was playing right after us...Meeting guys like Eric and Skunk was truly an honor...
I also got the meet Grygrx and Thunkinfunder (From talkbass). we got to chat and Thunkinfunder showed us his new Fender USA fretless 6 string...really beautiful!...super low action!
I'll be back out there tomorrow... |

And to be fair, I don't know for sure if he's a Genz Benz guy or not...he was using a Shuttle 12.0 head and a couple of Uber cabs though...
