We seem to have quite a few Colorado Bass players on our My Space so they must be out there somewhere!

Haha. So true, I've been trying to find a drummer for the past year not. Went through a few no shows... thats about it. It's gonna be one hell of a hip-hop town though.

You know, you can do a search on the members list for folks listing "Denver" or "Colorado" in their location. I turned up 113 for Denver...

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/memberlist.php?do=search

It doesn't catch everyone, of course, but it's kinda helpful for finding people in your area. You can even sort the results according to who's been online most recently.

I'm in Denver.

The scene here is over-saturated with "original" metal, nu-metal, black metal,etc... bands. The jazz scene is good (I love Dotsero). Good cover bands can alwys get gigs around here, especially up in the mountain towns during ski season. Sadly, the goth scene has all but died.

Denver is also home to the Lodo Bass Bash.

As for the GTG's... yeah, we suck at organizing anything. I'm totally up for meeting a few of y'all, if we can ever get our act together.

Yeah, I would agree, the metal scene in Denver is pretty bad in my opinion
But there are two stand out bands that come to mind, Havok and Minthorn

I'm based in Centennial. I'll show up from time to time at local festivals but I rarely play in Denver or Colorado for that matter. The act I'm with tours most of the time and we have found that local venues either don't have the space or can't afford us.

However, there is a pretty good music scene here but there is very little cross talk between genres. I've seen some pretty lame bands and some outstanding talent as well, but I guess that's true for any town. The thing that's most surprising about Denver is that there is some amazing talent here that you never see. My band is deeply involved with one of the studios here and you wouldn't believe some of the people that drop by. We have a guy that comes in who is one of the best in world at what he does and lives in Highlands Ranch. Nobody knows and I'm not giving him up. You just don't know who lives down the block.

Anyway, if you decide to move here, best of luck. You can work a lot if you keep positive, be careful who you hook up with, and you're willing to travel.

Another Denver resident here. The scene here is definitely not for everyone, but I love it.

+1 on a CO GTG. There hasn't been one in years (that I know of). I'm not sure any of the people that attended even sign on here anymore. Check out this myspace page for more info about a bunch of CO bass players.
