| | Registered User | | Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Dublin, Ireland | | | If you're considering it, keep Dublin in mind - loads of venues, and I'm sure one of the stores like Musicmaker might be able to facilitate you for workshops etc.
You'll also get a chance to experience the Irish "sessiún" - where musicians are given sections of the pubs just to jam (although it's usually Irish trad music played, I'm sure they can facilitate variations on the theme!!) - musicians usually get paid by the pint, and usually aren't up on a stage as such but tucked round a "musicians only" part of the bar!
(just thinking how an Irish pub would react to 30 bass players turning up for a sessiún!!)
(Edit: Incidentally - "sessiún" is the Irish/Gaelic for "session" in case you haven't gathered, and as it's held in a pub, it has lead to a very Irish expression "I've such a hangover - I was on a session last night!" - not limited to musicians alone)
