Feeler: North Texas GTG DFW area???

Okay im pretty new here. I missed the Austin GTG cause it was on my wedding anniversary weekend.

That being said ... there are lots of players in the DFW area. I see lots of people just from looking at locations in threads.

While i've never organized anything like this ... I'd want to give it an honest effort and if anything possibly meet a few people.

I guess first thing is to get a list of people who are only interested ... once we get a list we can move to picking a date, venue etc...

im leaning towards a fall date to give everyone who wants to a chance to make plans and arrangements... but at this moment it's wide open ... i just wanna get some screen names so emails/pm's can be send to those wishing to be contacted when time comes to make some decisions.

we've had a Houston and Austin GTG ... Lets see if we can get something going up here.

Im down for any suggestions anyone has.... cause at this moment ... i have none cept for the idea and wanting a fall date

Club in McKinney

There is a little blues club in McKinney on the square. Cadillac Pizza Pub, I know we could meet there. Never been to a GTG. Do we swaps stories and show off basses or do we jam?

Hey Alan from Allen,

I've been to one GTG and it was held at a church. Everybody brought gear and drooled over one anothers stuff. You could get together for dinner and then go drool over gear.

I'm from Arlington/Grand Prairie but I live in Georgia now. If I were near,I'd be there too

Good Luck Guys

God Bless, Ray

I'm interested. But my schedule is wierd.

I'm off every other weekend. So this Saturday and Sunday would have been good. But next weekend will be bad. But the one after that will be good. But then the one after will be bad. But then there'll be a good one. And then there'll be a bad one...You get the idea.

So if it's on a weekend I'm off, and nothing else* is intruding in my life, I'm interested.

*a lot of funerals and weddings lately

I would certainly try to make it. I have a pretty full schedule between work, school, kids & gigs, but I would make an effort to be there!

Step 1: select a date. We already know Bard2dbone's schedule so we might start there.

Step 2: select a location. It sounds like we are going to be oohing and ahing, and swapping stories more than playing (12 + bassists playing together might shake something off the walls and require damage insurance). So someplace with/near food and drink and a laid back atmosphere. Irving is kind of central to everyone, I think.

Step 3: warn the management that we are coming and enjoy.

It'd be pretty awesome if I could finally attend a GTG.

I'd be down, I'm up in Denton and would make the drive depending on where it was. I don't have anything to bring so anyone can drool over, but I'd be down for whatever hanging was available.

A couple of logical date suggestions come to mind:
July 24-25 in conjunction with the Ft. Worth Guitar show in south Ft. Worth. Kind of short notice I know.
Oct 16 - 17 in conjunction with the fall guitar show in Arlington. That gives us some planning room and is more central.
