At the risk of sounding like a cherry (which I am) exactly what is involved with a get together? I'm fairly new to the music seen so I just don't know.

Welcome to TB! Get-togethers vary in their scope and structure. But most of the time, it's a number of TBers getting together to try out each other's gear, hang out and generally have fun. Sometimes, folks will bring along a drummer/guitarist/etc. and a jam will take place. Other times, a band will play a set--it all depends on the location and who's setting it up.

I've been to probably 7 or 8 GTGs in less than three years, and I highly recommend them. You get to try out all kinds of great gear in a very relaxed setting--there's no worrying about how good you are, nobody's there to judge. And TBers are generally very cool people to hang with.

Cool. Well if there is ever anybody putting one of these together near the frozen north Maine woods keep me in mind, I'd love to check one of these things out.

I re-visited NYC in 2008 after a longish absence and took the chance to go to a GTG there while I was at it. I has such a fun trip that I made a point of going back this year and I'm planning to do the same in 2010. Great times, very cool guys, every single one - including Greg who responded above. Hi to the rest of the gang while I'm on. You guys are first rate, ya know?

My playing is far from stellar but I was still made to feel very welcome.

Are you reading this, John? Merry Christmas, bro! Lots of love over the water to you and the family.
