I definitely would love to see something like this come to fruition, it's a damn shame so many Houstonian bassists who are part of such a big community as Talkbass have never actually met each other.

And I imagine many, like me, wanted to go to the New York GTG but just couldn't find the time or the money to head out there.

Let's get this off the ground gentlemen, I'd love to meet all of ye.

Well, I'd be in if it wasn't for the damn 21 thing. I'd bring plenty of effects for playing around with, and would love to do some blues too. However, sadly it seems I will not be able to make it, unless someone wants to pose as my guardian haha.

I'll be back at college by then so I can't make it, besides the whole 21 thing...

Seems like we have enough interest that the bar situation would be too small. Please see post #7 for more info.

This has been put on hold. There has been alot of interest from our under 21 bretheren and the guys that can't make a Wednesday due to work. I am thinking we should try for a day over the Christmas/New Years holidays. I will be in touch with McHaven and the other college guys to try and figure out a good date. There is another bar over in the Heights that lets in all ages that I may be able to reserve a Saturday afternoon at.

Keep posting here with ideas or just to let us know would like to attend. Also feel free to PM me for info or ideas.

Thanks,
L

Thats awesome I'd love to go! Sorry but I'm under 21 and I might be ruining all the fun. I'd love to do this.

Guys, how about a church? All ages, and if youre a member, they usually will give it to you for a day for free.

We did it in Columbus, and it was awesome. Just an idea.

We could use Joel's church!

Here I got this from another thread

At the gtg's people tend to be a bit busy trying out all the gear for fun and don't bring any money with them to buy things unless arranged in advance... but, if it's a swap/trade/buy deal, the bassists bring what they want to trade/sell, and bring cash in case they want to buy.

I know a few Ohio bassists that are looking to offload gear due to posts in the classifieds... I'm sure there are more. And what bassists amongst us aren't always on the lookout for new and interesting items?

Personally I know a few local guys that aren't on the forums that might be interested in attending something like this. What are your thoughts?
It's not a bad idea!

I would be interested in going. I am way ignorant about these GTG things. What should I bring? Basses? Amp? My new effect? Just curious as I have never been to one of these before.

You mentioned it might be around Christmas/New Years. Every few years I head north to MI to visit in-laws during that time. This might be one of those years, but not sure yet.

Hope I can make it whenever you schedule it.

Don't feel alone,I'm new to this too.Just feeling my way around really.

I am going to try to have 5-8 amplifier stations there already so no need to bring an amp.Bring any basses for others to check out/play and any effects as well.

I have actually been thinking about the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.I figured if we went too close to Christmas we would lose alot of people going out of town.

Anyone planning on coming, please post the best weekend for you between Thanksgiving and Christmas.I will look at which seems to be the best time and go from there.

Thanks,
L
