The Michigan Tri-City Scene (Saginaw/Bay City/Midland - Hell, Flint too!)

Is there a decent scene for this area?
I've been playing with this band that's been doing originals - and dare I say it, we have talent - and things have been looking up until I tried booking a gig in the area. Any feedback on whether or not there is a scene, if I'm doing the booking wrong, etc..., would be appreciated.

My fiance who is from downstate (I'm in the UP) says try the Machine Shop in Flint, though they do a lot of bigger bands, but she thinks they may have a local night or something, and if you don't mind driving she says try a place called Club Rox in Alma. I've got an uncle near Flint who may be into the local music scene there, I'll have to ask him if there's any places he'd recommend too... at any rate good luck with your band, sorry I couldn't be of more help!

White's Bar in Saginaw does originals. The type of music your band plays will affect the answers anyone might give you, though.
