Minneapolis gig -- Thursday, Aug. 28 2008

So it turns out that by sheer concidence, both myself and mrokern are playing with our respective bands at the Fine Line Music Cafe in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, Aug 28. I figure if we've got two TB'ers onstage, we should try and get some more in the audience!

Mark's band is called Visceral and they're playing in the first slot at 8 PM. My band is Orange Tour, and we're playing in the 3rd slot at 11 PM. If you do come out, make sure to say hi afterward!

What style of music do you play?

We (Visceral) are mainly 90's - 00's alternative with originals mixed in. Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Eve 6...that style.

We've got a couple of nice ones over the next few weeks. Fine Line this week, then Pickle Park on Sept. 13th. It's a rough life.

I'm going to try to make it. Funny -- I work a few blocks away, and I've heard of the Fine Line many times since I moved here, but I've still never set foot in the place. I took a look at their website, and it seems like a nice venue.

You live in EP too? Heck, we could carpool! (LOL) I just listed Minneapolis figuring most folks have no idea where EP is.

As for the Fine Line, it's one of the nicer venues for the size. Clean, good sound system, more upscale of a client base...

My band is something in the realm of original indie pop or something along those lines. Hard to describe -- my bandmates list bands like The Replacements, Fountains of Wayne, etc, as influences.

Here's our myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/orangetour
Here's Visceral's: http://www.myspace.com/visceralrock

The Fine Line is a great venue. I've played 3 shows there (two with my other band, a funk-ish group). There's almost TOO much room up on stage!

Note on our site...since the recordings were done, new drummer, new songs (thank goodness), plus original material. Should be a fun night!

Gonna be a busy one...

I can't make it down there, we've got a baby due any day now and I'm on 24/7 baby watch.

But good luck on the gig you guys, and keep us posted on future shows.

Was great meeting Asad and Ed last night! Both very nice guys. Ed turned up just to hang out and listen, while Asad and I had to actually get up there and earn a little gas money.

Asad, you're a heck of a player, my man! Very nice work! I didn't get much of a chance to play with your Shuttle (soundcheck was running late), but man, is it ever light! It seems to be a really nice match for your Ray...the mids definitely jump right out.

Thanks Mark! I didn't realize you stuck around till we played. Unfortunately I showed up just as your set was ending (had to pick up my brother from the airport) so I didn't get a chance to hear you guys

It was great to meet Ed too, maybe he can post some of the pics he took with his camera phone

You could have had a laugh in our last song...had to drag the drummer back into sync a couple of times (which is REALLY unusual, he's an excellent player).

I had a rough night. The LMII was doing a great job, but I really should have listened to my gut and brought my 15" cab as well. I couldn't hear anything up there above an open A string. Getting the 212 up higher would have helped a lot, I think. Supposedly it was fine in the house, but I know I was sloppy. Same thing happened the last time we played there...you'd think I would have learned.
