Thumbs up The Official August 15, 2010 NYC/International TalkBass GTG Thread!

Sign in to disble this ad
This year I am proud to announce that as this years giveaway, we will be giving away..........................................

The Valenti Bass of your dreams. However you want it, however you need it. 4 string, 5 string. It's up to you. With a Valenti retail value of up to $2000.

You might ask, how does the giveaway work?

Every person who pays their $60 entry fee, will receive 20 "raffle/door prize" tickets. Can't make it? Wanna buy more tickets and improve your chances? More tickets are available for $20 for 10. Note what I said: $20 for 10, not $2 each. You must buy in blocks of $20, which is really no big deal in the grand idea of it all.

We need to have 75 people at the GTG for the giveaway to happen, otherwise, we might be giving away my Spector NS5CRFM. I'm hoping for the Valenti!

My goal? 150 people and giveaway 2 Valentis!

Henceforth, I've got it all set up and ready to go. Based on the success of 2009 and 2008 GTG, I've decided to give people as much time as possible to start planning. If you aren't familiar with what went on these past years, here's some threads to check out (I'll post more threads later, or maybe others will post for me!):

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...70#post6098770

The 08/03/08 International GTG Photo Thread

FEEDBACK for the International GTG

Which ONE bass would you have walked away from the international GTG ?

‘Gear Listing’ for the International GTG in metro NYC August 3rd

What will be new for 2010? Actually, not too much, but hopefully we'll have more people and more giveaways!

1. biggest room possible! holds about 350 people
2. a smaller room specifically for listening to the basses thru headphone amps
3. more bass builders/bass amp/bass string vendors
4. available drum machines
5. live music in the outdoor Biergarten. Want to play? Let me know ASAP!!!!!!!
6. representatives from different, and excellent, beer vendors (Bud and Coors need not apply. Sorry.)
7. Hopefully more giveaways

So what's the low down on the down low?

When: Sunday August 15, 2009. The day after Bassybill's birthday!

Time: START 10am for load in of anyone with equipment, especially vendors or people with amps. 11AM everyone else.
END 5pm at a minimum. We usually go later. Much later. Much, much later. Radeberger party afterwards. Plan on not working the following day!

Where: Plattduetsche Park Restaurant/Biergarten

www.parkrestaurant.com

Who: TB members, fellow musicians, friends, family, strangers, even guitar players, some drummers (not all!)

How much?: $60 per person

What's included?: Your entry, seating and all that you can eat German buffet. Please tip your bartenders and servers. They work hard!

What can you do to help?: ask me, The Crusader, I'll think of something. In the mean time, PM people and let them know and by all means use the link for this thread as your signature.

How does one sign up?: PayPal $60.00 to jpf6367@aol.com and your spot is secured.

Good point. Whitestone or Throg's Neck to the Cross Island and follow Queens directions in post 1.

Thanks Thor.

I'd like to try to make this one this year.

Unfortunately, being a commissioned sales guy, it gets hard
to predict the schedule. That being said, there are a lot of
guys that went to the last one that I would love to meet, you
included. I won't know till it gets a lot closer, so I will stay
tuned.

And yeah, everyone raved about how much fun it was.

Throg's Neck (it always sounded to me like there should be a troll living under it) makes more sense if you're driving south on I-95.

Neve have seen a troll under it, but have caught quite a number of fish in my day there. If coming down from CT IMHO it's the way to go.

Bit of history on the correct spelling:

Throggs Neck is at the northern approach to the Throgs Neck Bridge, which connects the Bronx with the borough of Queens on Long Island in the neighborhood of Bayside. Historically, the correct spelling is with two "g's,"[2] and while NYC Parks Commissioner and Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority Chairman Robert Moses shortened it to one "g" after deciding that two would not fit on many of the street signs, residents continue to recognize the traditional spelling.

Regards and see you in August-----------

+1

Last years GTG was one of the longest days I have ever spent having a good time! By the time I dropped The Crusader off at home and laid my head to rest it was after 3:00am. Having the day after off was mandatory for me.

If everyone interested could use my signature or similar as their signature, it would be a great help.
