Ummmm . . . .

I just saw the news and they were saying I-84 is closed in the gorge due to ice. I'm wondering if the folks from upstream will be able to make it.

Nope !

We had to call it. Major traffic snafu with a fatality somewhere west of here on 84. Much as we would love to come on down - the driving out here is nutz a the moment... I just got back from the grocery and man, even the Subbie was having troubles... Lisa and I are in for the count.

Happily, we have passion fruit puree and freshly infused Habenero Vodka so it's hot passion fruit Cosmo's and close neighbor's for dinner - then a hilarious cross country ski around the neighborhood with the dogs - in the dark! (This oughtta be good ...at least the ani-freeze will be fresh.)

Probably just as well as I won't take heaps of abuse for attempting to sell off my Reverend ... You guy's all drive safe none the less!

Bummer about the roads, I was looking forward to seeing you crazy kids again. Hopefully next time you Hoodriverians. I was hoping someone would bring a Reverend though, I still haven't heard one in a band context (Bart).

Seriously though, who's gonna play Takin Care of Business?!

Which Reverend? The PJ? the 5L with flats? or the BH5?

In any event, here are the first pics of the completed Super-Squier, which rawks:

The Badass bridge is super heavy, but the bass is now perfectly balanced, and has crazy good tone with the Fralins and the heavy bridge. I put new DR High Beams on it, and lowered the action a little so it plays like lightning.

I'll take care of bidness.

I got a call this evening from the River City Saloon asking if I wanted to do sound tonight. The regular house guy couldn't get there, and he only lives maybe a mile away from the club. I still haven't gotten around to putting the studded tires on my van, so hot rum drinks and a movie at home got the nod instead.

Damn, the Bravery was a good show! The bass player had a T-Bird and I was surprised how much the Bass and Keys carried the band. They were damned tight... sounded like the albums, only better. Lead singer reminds everyone of Crispin Glover. LOL
Goodnight all!

My buddy didn't win tickets to go see the bravery... he won tickets to "cook" with the bravery at western culinary institute. how bizarre, right?

Funny coming across this thread.

Hey arbitrary, tell Dan Polidori, Steve says "hi". We went to high school together and I played in a couple bands with him back in the day. He actually came out to one of our shows with his wife not too long ago. I hadn't seen him in years.

Were there any bass players who sat in from here?

IMO - the show to see this week (at least at the Alladdin - is the Bruce Foxton show Wednesday night - I might get down to that one...) I was a big fan of The Jam back in the day.

I am assuming that you are referring to the gig at the M&M?

BartmanPDX got up for three songs and added a different flavor to the low end with his smokin' Reverand. It appeared that he had a good time.

Brothernewt and his very charming wife were there and they added significantly to the fun. It was a shame that our friends from the east, Mal, Lisa and Passingwind, couldn't make it due to the crappy weather in the gorge.

It was really refreshing to see/hear a band that is very tight and is mature enough to put the right twist on cover tunes to keep them fresh. The guitarist got a very full tone with his Vox amp but never seemed to step on anyones toes. And the drummer was the kind of stick man that bass players love to work with. These folks were just having fun and it showed in their music.

Though this is a 3-piece group the sound was never thin. And of course Arbitrary's feel and tone were pretty spectacular. This man is a stylist. I was highly impressed by his walking moves that show a maturity on bass way beyond his age. This guy is a great player now so it's pretty scary to imagine just how good he's going to be in 5 years.

Thanks everyone for coming, it was a great time! Bart was the only one who sat in. Next time Jerry is definitely sitting in! You're gonna do it Jerry! Bring that fodera or something. And I'm sure if Malcom and Charlie hadn't been held up with the weather they would've played some. Next time guys.

Thank you very much for the kind words Jerry. You're awesome (You're Aguilar head was a nice treat to play through as well for a change of pace). They are a fun band to play with. Kerri recorded a video with her digital camera of one of the songs, damn it was funny, a few wrong notes and skipped parts, but it was still fun. All smiles here.

Now thats funny, I'll make sure to tell him. I've heard that Dan hasn't actually gotten any better since high school though, and apparently he still plays those same pentatonic riffs.

Without further ado, here's Bart getting the find people of Gresham dancin':

Speaking of Dan:

And lastly, who says boutique coffee table basses can't feed back!?

Thanks to Eric for letting me darken the stage for a while. They're a really fun bunch to jam with.

From the picture it looks like I was about to take a dump, but I think the Reverend sounded pretty good despite my best attempts to foul the stage.

Sorry to anyone I may have offended with my sarcasm and irreverent attempts at humor. Whiskey + skipped dinner makes for a boisterous Bart. It was great to hang with Jerry, Jason, and Sherry for a while, even if I was busy being an ass.

I really want an NV after that gig though. I just keep coming back to the tone from that cab. I think my wife would freak, though, and it takes a lot for her to freak.
