Not gonna make it. Got a last minute sub gig at church. I won't be done until after 1PM.

Have fun though!

I got my chains and keeping an eye on the sky but yeah, I'm now in the "maybe" category - weather dependent. I vote reschedule but I don't know when we can be assured of better weather until maybe March???

Interesting enough, I have a Jazz gig in the West Hills on Saturday night that is now on weather watch. What a weekend.

LOL...we can just keep trying 'till it works, since the club is pretty flexible. I'll probably go over there and jam with my buddies anyway, and if anyone wants to show up, fine. There's no telling what the weather will actually do, and even more so in the Gorge.

Really? Is this a definite cancellation or a maybe cancellation? Would you mind updating us later today or Saturday?

I think we should wait until tomorrow afternoon or evening to decide definitively? I have tons of weather forecasting links, due to my windsurfing addiction. I'm actually a bit more worried about what the drive home might be like for you guys...

I'll be offline pretty soon until tomorrow morning. There's a huge show tonight at the same venue and I have to be on deck in case of technical issues. There's a tiny bit of snow in my yard, but nothing that'd be a problem at the moment.

I'm not really worried. It's mostly major roads (I-84) up to Hood River, and the highways should be fine after 10AM, IMO. Saturday would likely have been a different story -- the weather should be horrible tomorrow. The bar is only a couple blocks off the highway in any event.

My car is also at Les Schwab's getting the snow tires put on right now.

Anyway, I'll be there. If it's just a couple of us there, I'm cool with that. I'll just be glad to get out of the house.

Looks like my wife will be staying in Portland though; we couldn't get grandma to agree to babysit our daughter for more than a couple hours.

Well if Bart can make it, I suppose I can.
I still don't really know what this car can do (or can't).

Rock!

One way to find out! LOL.

Subarus are pretty good in the snow, but the studless snow tires I got last year help quite a bit, too.

My experience is that the first "snow" of the year is often grossly overhyped. Weather forecasters get overly excited at the prospect that someone is actually listening to them.

Rock. Melt faces.

Yeah, Kerri just tends to laugh when Portlandia tweaks about the snow. Then she brings up the legend of the Blizzard of '78 that she only heard stories about growing up. Apparently thats why Boston has so many one way streets. But of course, that could be a tall tale.

I'll still be there unless the weather is really bad. We made reservations at the hotel on Sunday night and I don't want to eat the charge.
So, unless it's icy, or 4 inches of snow on I-84, I'll be there.

1678, 1778, 1878 or 1978? Boston has been there a LONG time!
I was there a few years ago and marveled at the 300-400 year old headstones in the cemetary's. Crazy to see "Died 16--"!!!!

I was there. There were two of 'em that year actually. I'd get banned if I posted my scary hippie stories about how it came down in Kenmore Square, but remind me about it at the GTG. I drove right through the second one up to northern VT, since I knew my workplace would be closed and the skiing would be great.

It's all about the cows, man.

Seriously. Around here, the first sight of anything that even looks like snow turns into "Winter Snowstorm 2008!!!".

Well, I'm still there unless it gets rediculously stormy...or everyone else decides to stay home .

I was a child for the 78 blizzard I don't really remember exact details. Yes i remember 2 of them. The thing I do know is it hit like a week before Christmas break form school so we we're out for like 6 weeks or something.

I also remember sliding out of a friends second story window down a packed snow drift.

I think I'll blame the cows.

You should see what they're like in Georgia where I grew up.

While living in Georgia, I've ridden out hurricanes and tornadoes, and was nearly struck by lightning once. To listen to the local weathermen there however, the REAL threat comes from the possibility of 1/2" of snow on the ground, which usually melts by 10AM. TERRIFYING!!! The whole population rushes down to the store to buy candles and canned goods as though the end were near . . .

If they get 1/2" of snow school is canceled, which kind of sucks because you can't really do much with 1/2" of snow.
