Portland, OR/SW Washington GTG this fall?

Just wondering if anyone's interested.

Passinwind had mentioned the possibility of doing one in Hood River again. That was a really nice venue.

Anyone have other ideas, locations, etc.?

I totally dug that place. The only thing though is that it is 21+ which doesn't really affect me, but I (I mean Kerri) hosted the last GTG, so its not my turn.

Should be a fun time again!

I'm up for it. Sure would be nice to venture over to the west side of town but I don't have a venue to host.

Hey Guys,

Just pick a tentative date and I'll get it rolling for the River City Saloon in Hood River. How about late October, before weather/driving issues start to pop up?

I talked to Damian Erskine about maybe doing a short clinic at the next one. If he's not out on tour he'll definitely come to the GTG in any case.

I'll talk to the venue management again about the 21-and-over policy. I know there are some ways around it, but I'm not sure how practical they are for our situation.

River City Saloon would be great.

Decent size stage, and it's a good testing ground for what gear sounds like in a venue situation.

Sunday afternoons would probably work best for most people.

I'd definitely like to go. Depends on the exact timing though. I'd vote for later in the year myself...November or early December maybe.

Welcome to PuddleTown, AJ! Love the quote in your sig. George in "Hard Days Night", right? How about, Q: "How did you find America?" A: "Just go to Greenland and turn left."

Welcome, Andrew!! Good bunch of folks here in Portland, and there is always some amazing gear at the GTGs.

FWIW, I have a new bass, though it made an appearance in a different configuration at the last GTG (I now own 4mal's white Reverend, which is currently converted to a PJ).

I'd definitely be up for it, but I'm 18, so we'd have a problem there. Just let me know when you figure that out, I'm stoked otherwise, ha.

I second a November date. October is already getting very booked. It will be great to see you all again.
Can't wait to check out Arbitrarys Jerzy Drozd. Just hope I don't drool on it too much. LOL

OK, I'll see how the club's calendar is shaping up. I know they have at least two big shows in November, and it'll probably work best to steer clear of those.

It's a beauty, even to a 4-only player like myself.

For this show-and-tell I'll have my DIY tube preamp/line driver, the Rane DSP speaker controller widget, a new set of Q-Tuners in my Crescent Moon fretless, and a couple of different DIY mid/tweeter cab iterations.

How would you guys feel about a couple of 'sig' sessions.

I was thinking maybe some direct recording as one. Grab some bass, string, pickup, preamp combination we think are hip and then record 'em for comparo. I can drag along my PT rig for that.

How many of you guys solder - do pickup swap's, your own setup's ? Maybe Charlie can run a quick soldering techniques session if it's a topic worth exploring ? We might be able to get Craig Wilson to drop in and talk about how a *real* luthier approaches setup. Craig is a man of few words so that would be a short session no doubt ...

Just a couple of thoughts floating around.

Any updates?

I'm always up for any recording. And this year I'll have a guitar on hand (tuned in all in 4ths though...that's acceptable, right? ), plus my soon to be completed 6-string acoustic bass. And maybe even a BSX EUB that'll be for sale

I'd love to check out that Jerzy too!
