Wow, that explains it. I'm glad that you guys will be there this year. I've missed out on the past two years so this year will definitely be a treat now.

I just heard from Phil Jones that Bob Babbitt will be hanging out at the PJB booth ('basement' floor) at NAMM! I believe he'll even be giving out signed 8x10's.
Bob is a big time hero of mine, so I, for one, am very excited to meet his acquaintance.

He is Gavin Morris and I found out about him on youtube. He has 115 videos on there and he shows just how good flatwounds sound on a P Bass. You can check out his videos here. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=jamersonshook
I was so blown away with Gavin’s feel and tone that I asked him to come from the UK and join Bob and me at NAMM. So please come on by to our booth #1544 in Hall E if you can.
Fender is supplying us with an almost exact replica of Jamerson’s 62 P bass. I am very excited to see how Bob and Gavin play on that! |

Met a bunch of cool folks like Jay Terrien, Maurillo, Brian Barnett, Jeff Genzler, Roger Hart, Andy (agedhorse) Jimmy Capollo, Kirk Powers, Scott Pazera and I am sure I am missing several others but I am very tired.
Adrian's bass is amazing looking. Didn't dare play it. Just didn't feel right to do so. Rufus's Nordy was awesome as was Jay's. Great hang with Stew, Maurillo and Carey at the booth.
Scott Pazera is just a really nice, cool cat. Mark Knell stopped by.
Met Jimmy C. and played Kirks P5. AMAZING! Jimmy and I need to talk some more. His basses are just fantastic. Also played a blue jazz and another P5 with flats. These things sound like true old school P's and J's. FANTASTIC!
Kirk is such a great guy and I was so glad to finally meet him.
Went to the Genz booth and had to pick up my jaw after hearing the Shuttle Amps. I play the 6.0 112 cmbo and the thing kills. Then Jeff Genzler took the 6.0 and we ran their new UB810 cab off it. Jeff ran their new 1,000 watt UB410 with the 3.0 and it drove the cab pretty well.
Shocking was the little 3.0 1x8 combo. That thing sounds great and is loud. Great for jazz/coffee house gigs. The B string didn't fart the speaker at all.
Folks, this amp is simply awesome. First Class D amp I have played that had some oomph to it. Not as much as its led sled brother the GBE1200 but this thing can be felt. Very loud, great tone, eq is very nice. VERY similar tone to the GBE 750 and 1200.
I took Kirk up their and he was floored too! I am ordering one for sure; as is Kirk.
Great stuff. Great day. Too tired to remember the rest and I have to be on a plane to Nashville in the a.m. |

Please? | It's not NAMM, but here's a couple from the 2008 Gakki Fair. Interesting options- full face tops, Aero pickups, and non-black hardware: http://www.kurosawagakki.com/sh_bass...gakkifair.html |

I know you have ordered basses from Rob before. Do you find him to be easy to work with? Is he open to crazy options? I know your 4 had a custom headstock, but I have some even greater modifications in mind. |

Type in "kurosawa elrick," and bam, there you are. More along the lines of 20 seconds than hours They get a lot of cool basses from him- I've saved some to my PC over the past couple years. I check back there every now and then to see what's new- another Japanese dealer with interesting stuff is this place: http://www.ikebe-gakki.com/web-ikebe...x3.html#Elrick
Rob isn't really into the "crazy options" stuff. He doesn't vary too far from his preferences in some respects- he won't do blocks or binding, won't let you pick out your woods from other dealers, won't do wood covers on the pickups (the Aeros are an exception somehow). I get the feeling he wouldn't do a more frets option, nor anything involving much body modification. I think there's one or two reasons he agreed to do the big headstock for my fretless- maybe he thought it'd be an interesting idea that would require little modification, maybe it's because I'm regular and very vocally happy buyer. I had purchased a fretted four and had asked him before I purchased it if it would hold four detuners and he thought it would, so when it didn't it's possible he may have thought altering the head on my new order would make up for it. Who knows He tends to be very short with emails- some might think they sound a little too curt, but I think he just tries to keep the idle talk to a minimum. He's an interesting personality, and while there's some options that I'd like to have that he won't do, I very much respect him not straying far from what he knows will work. He has done some interesting stuff though, like my fretless, the singlecut versions of his NJS basses, and the 30" scale eight-string. |

Quite an adventure, I must say. As I get older I don't know if I can keep this schedule up. My Feet hurt, I feel like I have gone thru a blender, I played a gig last night and could hardly keep up after a day at NAMM. BUT there definately was some great stuff to see (Both bass specific and musical in general). IF you are at NAMM and go by the MTD booth, Mike has a video of the MTD factory tour running at various times of the day. See you at NAMM. |

Lemme tell you he was just ridiculous. So unbelievably musical...he could easily do an entire gig with just a ride and you would not miss the kit for a second. Awesome.
Oh, that bass is pretty sweet too.

It was really great hearing the three of you play. I'll put up some shots of my own in a bit. And yes, Danny was just amazing playing on just that ride!!!
