Em, well, I live in Calabash, NC, which is right there on the SC/NC line north of Myrtle.

Oh, and to answer someone's question before about any music stores in the area really worth seeing, there really aren't many. There's a music store in the Coastal Grand Mall called Andy Owings where I've seen a Squier Classic Vibe bass priced at $549. No joke. If I had my cell phone on me at the time I would've taken a picture of the price tag.

So no updates since 2009? I'm in Greenville and just learning to play bass although I've played sax and piano for several years.

Greenwood here! Just down the road from Greenville. We play most of the little bars around here. I've been playing a while, but mainly at home. Just started doing shows in the last year, I freaking love it!

Smiley's cafe in Greenville get's some good acts. Usually there are two acts (at least on a Fri/Sat). The earlier act is usually 1 or 2 people mainly accoustic and the 2nd act is usually a local or regional band. I've only been there twice but the talent was good both times. Can't help much w/ Sparkle City though.

I can't wait to start gigging! I'm hoping a year at the latest and earlier to play with a group or two at the church.

Lauren's SC ! Yeah, Smileys is awesome! I've played there a bunch of times. Moved here from Redondo Beach, Ca. 2 1/2 years ago. Kinda tough to break into the " tight" music circles down here. We played at last 2 Squealin on the Square festivals as well as last 3 Lauren's wine sip n strolls and one sip n stroll in Greenwood. See a pattern here ! Haha . Sure wish it was easier to break in and play more

SC Bassist

I am in Tega Cay (Fort Mill), SC

Thinking about getting together a "Bass Summit"

Really just a few of us who gig often...but also have "Serious Day Gigs"" which means we can afford high end instruments and equipment. This would be an opportunity to put all the toys in a room and compare sounds and try out stuff.

Given that you are in Tega Cay, I think the "Serious Day Gig" goes without saying. I bet it would be a fun albeit select group. Let us know how it goes.
