Ah well, hopefully a good turnout means another GTG in the future. Travel safe everyone. | Take her to the Lou for her B-Day!

If I don't take the kids (and their friends) to THIS...I'll be never hear the end of it. And, of course, it's EXACTLY the same date and time at the STL GTG.
Big +1 on the Ye Olde Music Shoppe, Marissa, IL 70's reminisces. Played my first Alembic there when the distributor (Heater?) held a little seminar on them in the front lobby, played a few Les Pauls with NUMBERS stenciled on them right before they got shipped off for some crazy brit to smash. Heil "Troughs" all around, Sunn Folded Horns. Tapco boards!!! Great memories, great guys!

However, I guess stuff happens. There are quite a few good set-up/repair guys in town... John Higgins (who used to work at Gravity until about 15 years ago), who does the set-up work at Dave Hinson's shop now, John Mondin over on the East site, Skip Gage (I think that is how you spell his name), who has his own shop in Maplewood (used to be called Silverstrings, I think back in the day).
It is good to find a set-up guy who has the same 'feel and concept' as you do, and sometimes things don't quite match-up. All those guys have slightly different approaches. |

I also do 90% of my own set-up work, but every few years, I take at least one of my bases into Gravity for a good fret dress and going over, etc.
Edit: If Jon Ferber is still working there, tell him Ken Jung says 'hey'. We go WAY back. I played keyboards in a band with him in a band called the Nukes back in the 70's!

They were doing a show at one of the casinos and he was setting them up. He also showed me a picture of him with Macca and his famous Les Paul. Skip is the best Gibson guy in STL. If it's good enough for Mac, it's good enough for me. lol
I think he's a stoner though and sometimes it takes him awhile to get stuff done. The end result is always worth the wait though.
I suppose I can't really say anything about J. Gravity. God only knows who it was that worked on my guitar all those years ago and I do know a lot of people who are happy with them.

I miss the city, and it's sprawling neighborhoods. CWE, The Loop. White Castles, Eat Rite, 905 beer, Imo's pizza is the shiznit. Thin crust with tons of toppings. Raccanellis on Delmar, anything on Delmar or Broadway, good stuff... Tap Room, BB's blues (Tommy Bankhead stomping grounds) ... I miss it, dearly.
Anyone know Patti and the Hitmen?

| | | | Well Crap!!!
I was really looking forward to this. I am trying to learn everything I can and I knew this would be a great way to pick up some knowledge from all of you guys and meet some cool people.
But alas, we are leaving friday for Lake Shelbyville for a little vacation. That is if my boat is fixed by then. If the boat is still in the shop I will be able to drop by.

Sure. They used to do Soulard every weekend. My folks and their friends all play(ed) in blues and soul bands and all those people knew each other. Do you remember Twilight Jump or The Swirl Band? What was that bar up there, 1850 or something like that? Ah, the good ol' days. Patti has one leg shorter than the other I think.
905 is long gone though bro. Bought out by Pet Foods many years ago.
