I'm definitely coming but gimma a few weeks to a month to make a deposit! I'm gonna bring my Rickenbacker and pedalboard this time!

I'll probably be driving Tbirdbassist and beyondhairy if they want to meet up before hand and drive in my car. I'll have room for maybe one more guy. That is if Tbird and hairy don't bring too much gear my trunk can't handle! XD

...I could always borrow my dad's jeep as well...

ALSO: Should i bring my GK2001RB and Avatar 410? I can probably fit everything in my dad's jeep. I'm just making sure we have plenty of amps there. We got lucky Tbird lugged two of his gigantic peavey amps at the last NY GTG. We wouldn't have had a little pedal show :P

Not sure how bringing a bunch of amps is going to work at this venue - organizers can clear this up. If this were a "conventional" gtg at someone's house, it would be a 100% no brainer to bring your amp. There are never too many amps at a GTG.

Most TB GTG's are really just a social gathering where everyone gets a great opportunity to check out gear and put a face to the user names we see all of the time. I personally really enjoy getting to know the people attending and have made many great friendships with other TBers

Some of the really cool stuff:
  • You'll see some beautiful basses
  • You'll get a chance to hear some great amps
  • A perfect opportunity to talk about effects
  • Lot's of cool accessories like cases, stands, cables that you nomally wouldn't ever see in stores
  • Always some very good food

For anyone that is worried about their chops not being 100% or for anyone that is afraid that they'll have to perform, the GTG's are not designed to be a playing showcase. There are all kinds of skill levels at these events, from beginners to long time serious pros. Really, truely, no one cares about who has the best chops or who is still early in the learning curve. It's much more about the fellowship ....

Oh, BTW, most GTG's are kinda loud events .....

If you're on the fence, don't hesitate to make the commitment for this special GTG. It's not often we get a chance to meet with this wide a range of TBers ......

They always are at GTGs. Though despite knowing a lot of people's names I still use their handle when talking at or about a GTG!

I talked w/ Major Metal about this on Saturday. He knows my situation and that I'm trying my damnedest, but just don't know at this point.

Good work, Chili. Now that's looking a bit more like a GTG!

I'd be more than happy to go, but I have two questions. Who do I give the $40 to (or do I pay there?) and does anyone know how to get there via public transportation?

There's some posts in this thread answering both your questions, I think - skim through until you find the email address for filakovsky for PayPal payment of the $40, then look for Michael Jewels posts about public transport in the past two or three days or so.

EDIT Here's the PayPal email... Filakovsky@optonline.net

We've got 91,000 members according to the site statistics - let's just book Shea Stadium and go for it!

Yeah, I know... but it would be fun, wouldn't it?
