Virginia Bassists GTG - June 14th, 2008!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, it's coming up on the agreed date for our quarterly GTG.

We all had a grand time at the last GTG, and I for one am looking forward to this upcoming one, on Saturday, June 14th, in the early afternoon into the evening.

At this point I'm looking for a location. Preferably somewhere we can bring our gear and sit around and jam. Dave H has graciously offered to help us out with this, but I wanted to open it up to everyone here first.

Any suggestions? Ideally we're looking for a place with room for 20+ people, and gear, that doesn't mind us making a racket.

Please post in this thread if you plan on making it, so we can have a ballpark idea of how many to expect.

There will be a drawing for an SX Jazz bass - similar to this -
or this:

Please post about which one you like better, and the group can decide on the one I'll order for the raffle. $5 a ticket. Buy as many tickets as you want, or none at all.

There will also be the opportunity to clear out all your old gear, swapping or buying gear from others.

Any other takers? If we have less than 10, it's at my house, and I'll have the cold beverages.

Can't make it unless it's after 6:00, gotta work, but I would like to help support this GTG. Any location yet? I will try my contact if needed.
The raffle sounds like a great idea, I will by a ticket, let me know.

Looks like this might be quite the small gathering...

At any rate, at Dave's request, I started a thread on the upcoming Alpha Music Bass Player's Club meeting, hosted by Alpha and including a clinic with Adam Nitti.

Sorry I've been out of touch, work & weddings keeping me busy. I'm in Tim; still need a venue?

Got it, sounds like the 14th may be a tough date for most. Tim's thinking of backing the GTG off a week or two to see if we can get a date that works for more people. Any one have location ideas? Preference is given to locations with a decent beer selection

oh, and a drummer....

I'd be happy to see it move to another day... especially a Sunday. I work Saturdays so that takes care of those.

Yes, and a drummer...

Sunday seems to be a more popular choice than Saturday, if I remember from the last GTG. I'll start looking for a venue that serves decent brew and will let us play, oh and a drummer...
