Sorry, and thanks!

So the poll has closed, and by a margin of more than 2 to 1, it's going to be in Virginia Beach. Location will be determined by March 8th.

Looks like there are a lot of people that would rather do this on Sunday the 16th, so I'm going to make an executive decision and call it for then. For most of us, this will curtail the consumption of alcohol, but we probably ought to keep that to a minimum anyway.

I will write up some expectations of behaviour and post them here soon, and you are all invited to add things, so that everyone is on the same page with what's cool and what's not.

I'd like to sort of do this as a swap-meet type thing - bring whatever you'd like to get rid of, and I'll bring my rack and a cab for you all to try stuff out on, as well as playing with my modest collection.

So it's finally official - the Hampton Roads chapter () of the Virginia Bassists will be meeting at the Green Oak Pub in Virginia Beach @ 2pm on Sunday, March 16th.

Big thanks to John (VBSurfer3001) for all his help on this, essentially making it happen.

There is a 100 watt Crate at the Pub, mics, PA, drum kit already set up.
I'll be bringing out my rack, and a few things I want to get rid of, if someone could bring a decent cab that would be great.

Anyone been itching to try any of these out? I'll bring them out if someone wants to try one out - especially the stuff that you can't pick up at Guitar Center or whatever - TBC/Curbow/Alembic/SX. I'm putting the 8 string Carlo Robelli, the fretless Carlo Robelli 4 string, and the acoustic De Rosa 5 string for sale if no one snags them at the GTG.

I'll be happy to bring my Berg HT112 and Ashdown Mag300.

Very cool, please do! I can bring my old Sunn 60watt Sorado tube head if anyone is interested in playing it, (not for sale)

...So I'll be the first to post "post-GTG"...

Great time with a bunch of great guys, and great bassists. Some old-school groove and some new franticness, all in all a loud (and thoroughly enjoyable) time.

There were some beautiful basses in attendance, as well, and hopefully some of you guys got to see what SX, MusicMan, Alembic and Roscoe are all about. I, for one, was very impressed. I didn't move any of the gear I wanted to get rid of, so I'll be posting it here for about a week before it hits the 'Bay.

*EDIT* I also realized that I need to work on my improvisation...

Next GTG will be in about 3 months time... We're going to need more room!

Dang, I'm sorry I missed it. My allergies kicked in and I can barely see. No way was I driving to VB from Newport News. I'll make sure to catch the next one.
