Washington DC Area GTG??

Sign in to disble this ad
Who in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area would be interested in a get-together?

Part of what prompts this inquiry is the desire to do some testing of value basses and quality basses. I wrote the following in a thread on the matter:

WHAT we NEED is a round of DOUBLE BLIND testing. Have a TB meet and greet, bring some J and P or PJ basses and let people play them blindfolded and RATE them for tone and playability. ALSO while the blindfolded person is playing them, have EVERYONE not behind the curtain with the blindfolded player (so they can't see what bass is being played) RATE the TONE.

I now realize that I misused "double blind" but i think you understand what I mean. Of course we would do other stuff, but I'm trying to see if there's interest.

I'm definitely interested... more for just being able to mess around on other peoples stuff than anything but still interested, lol ! I've been waiting for someone to put another GTG together, the last one I went to was awesome.

BTW, I get that you probably wanted a bunch o' people to see this but the mods are gonna move this thread lickity-split

This is better placed in the Social Events and GTG section.

I'm always up for a GTG and having just had one in February us folks in the D.C. area are not far off needing another one.

Personally I'm not really interested in a bass/tone/playability comparison test. I'd rather do what I enjoy most about GTGs and that is meet fellow TBers and play/try out as many basses as I can. For me that is the best way to find out about what a particular bass is about.

I also think the logistics involved in what you are suggesting might detract from the 'flow' of the GTG. Also at the last GTG the must have been 40+ basses and 6 rigs!

Thanks Dahlman.

And to the mods, please forgive my ignorance of the forums. I REALLY had never noticed that there is a social events forum! Guess that's why I wasn't at the last GWMA GTG!
