A$$ backwards club

Sign in to disble this ad
I searched around and didnt find a club for this.

This is for everybody that plays rounds with their fretless, and flats with there fretted haha. I dont know, ive tried flats with the fretless but i just dont like the sound as much as rounds. I also have tried rounds with the fretted, but i just like the flats more.

I know this is kind of ass backwards...hence the title of the club haha. Ill post pics tomorrow.

There's really nothing backward about flats on a fretted bass. For decades, that's what they came with (except maybe Ricks).

I just got a nice Carvin fretless from another TBer. It arrived with flats on it. For me, the flats just seem to kill the zing, sustain and mwah. I replaced them with DR High Beams and would never go back.

I also have Labella Deep Talkin flats on my old Aria "Primary Bass". It's may all time favorite P bass that I spend a lot of time working on. It has a Fralin pickup and sounds amazing with the flats. I've tried flats on other basses including my favorite Jazz bass but never liked them enough to keep them on.

For years Ric's came with flats, and you actually voided the warranty if you installed rounds.

since this is more "strings" related than 'basses' related, it goes in strings.

I am a diehard rounds on fretless guy.
And a diehard flats on fretted guy.

It compensates.

Backwards? In what world is that. Rounds on both, flats on both for me.

I have rounds on my Lakland 4-94 fretted (DR Hi Beams), the 4-94 fretless (DR Sunbeams), the Lakland Skyline 55-01 (DR Hi Beams w/non-tapered 0.130 B). I have flats on my Fender Vintage Series '62 Precision, the Sting ('though it's probably going back to rounds soon), and the home-made fretless P/J.

Have:
fretted w/rounds
fretted w/flats
fretless w/rounds
Need:
fretless w/flats, unless my DB counts

More of everything, I say.
