Well I took my strings back to the shop where I purchased them (the BassExchange/Ampshop) and we compared the broken string to another LaBella 760FS and sure enough the one I recieved was indeed 1 inch longer than it should have been. They exchanged it for me no problem.

I went in there for my strings and ended up walking out with a new VT Bass pedal, and GAS for a Lakland Decade!

First of all: FatherDH, I am glad all is resolved.

Now I am wondering though, a bass with a scale length of 34'' = long scale?
I am also planning to buy me some La Bella's.

34" is long scale

I doubt he would've gotten a replacement. I've never had luck with LaBella and crappy strings, which is why I don't buy them anymore.

It bites when you email the company, never get a replacement string (which was all I asked for) when they say they will, and have all other emails ignored. Phones? Bah... They never answer them either.

in retrospect i probably should have tried to contact the ebay store i got them off of.
