Yep.

The feel of flats is interesting. Other strings have a texture to them - you'll see and feel the grooves.

With flats, it's completely smooth. It's like the string is a very long tube that's wrapped in metal ribbon. You'll be able to see how it's wrapped, but it's nothing like roundwounds.

It'll definitely be an interesting experience for your fingers if you try them.

Roundwounds are wound with a round coil of metal. Think of a wire wrapping that is round being wound on a core. But, flat wounds are more like a ribbon of metal being wound a core. If you were to unwind it, it would be flat metal. They're softer on your fingers, and they have a darker tone. They're great if you have a fretless, or if you just like the deeper tone.
