.012 gauage piccolo string?

I need to buy a new string for my piccolo bass after my high one snapped. I have a set of Zons on there now, but I can't get a hold of them to see if I could buy a single one.

The one originally on there was a .009. I found a .012 at Just Strings for a few dollars. Does anyone know if I'd be able to use it as a high C string and it not snap?

A .012 will be very tight, that's a big increase in gauge. If that's on a 34" scale it might snap. Best stick with a similar gauge. Some guitar strings are long enough (Rotosound, D'Aquisto), just thread a bass ball-end onto one.
