Looking into the world of 7 and 8 string guitars might tell you the guitar string gauge for a B string. I am assuming that the octave string is a guitar string?

it should be between 54 and 60. Use a B guitar string.

Alternatively, you can have some fun and use a bass' high C-string (~.030) and detune it, or head over to Octave4Plus and get a plain 0.009 and tune it up an octave higher than the high C-string.

Standard 8 string gauges are (E) 100/050. (A) 080/040. (D) 065/028. (G) 045/018. I think the B string would be 115/60 ???
