.140 gauge - low B, 5-string set needed

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everybody! Thanks for reading this post.

Basicly a quick question. I need a 5 string set, which has an .140 string for the low B. Currently I have a .135, and want a fatter sound.
I checked and saw that my nut has enough space for a .140, I dont really know why because it came with .135, but well, it has a zero fret so any string sticks on tight...

So good 5 string set with a .140 gauge. Thanks very much!!!

Wow 140 inches. That's over 11 feet. You must have very long arms.

i'm pretty sure your best bet with a .140 string is with dean markley...you can get the .140 guage in an SR2000, which is a great steel string...it's also tapered, so you won't have to worry about your saddle, and if your nut will accept that guage already, then you're set...get a 4 string set in the guages you like and add the .140 B string...

Finding a 5 set with a .140 will be tough - come by the 4 high gauges you like and get the .140 as a single.

Another point - Dean Markley is one of very few manufacturers that do a 3 wrap .135. Anything larger - by any manufacturer - is 4 wraps. There is audible dampening with that extra layer...
