2nd set in 4 weeks Dr. lo-rider ss E string dead...me or them?

Sign in to disble this ad
So this is the 2nd pack of dr strings in 4 weeks...we play 3 times a weekend and i usually do sweat a good bit but always wipe my strings down...they are 50-110. We tune half step down and tune during the show like 3 times from Eb to Db. Is this me or the string and if it's me what am I doing. I crimped the first set and didn't the 2nd (btw. It doesn't even tell you to crimp with the lo-ridders) Any help would be cost efficient lol.

Wow, I use DR low riders, too (5 string set) and mine last quite a while. I also play 4 times a week. I do use standard tuning, though.

mine normally do too...i don't know what's up. Mine have crapped out on me once like this before about 5 months ago, just thought it was a fluke. However, two sets back to back? I gotta find out if it's me or not?

Did you buy both sets at the same place? They are hand-wound strings. Could be a bad batch?

You might also contact juststrings.com and try to get a couple of E strings to replace the dead ones.

When a string is "dead" is extremely subjective. When I'm playing shows, I change my strings just about every show because to me, after one good sweaty show, my strings just don't have that zing anymore and start to get pretty dull sounding. Of course there are people who will gig with a set of strings for 3 or 6 months and to them, those strings take that long to die. If your definition of dead strings is anything like mine and you're playing three shows in a weekend, your strings are definitely going to be toast. You may want to spring for some coated ones (if you're ok with the slightly different tone). Otherwise, I would tend to suggest that you might have to just consider a pack of bass strings part of the cost of doing business if you're playing three nights in a row. I do...
